Ezekiel Chapter 1: Bible Study BY Atheists

Ezekiel Chapter 1: Bible Study BY Atheists

Strap in, non-believers and skeptics alike, for an interstellar ride through the fever dream that is Ezekiel Chapter 1. On today's episode of "Sacrilegious Discourse," your irreverent hosts dive headfirst into the biblical acid trip of a prophet who's either hit the holy jackpot or is proof that the ancients had access to some primo substances. Get ready to decode celestial puzzles that sound more like a sci-fi convention than sacred text.

As we dissect the prophet's so-called divine vision, we're left scratching our heads – was Ezekiel the original ancient astronaut theorist, or just really, really into some potent Babylonian brew? We're talking about a guy who sees a four-faced, winged creature (designer genes much?) and wheels within wheels that would make even the most seasoned UFOlogist do a double-take.

Our journey through this biblical head-scratcher is peppered with healthy skepticism and a side of good old-fashioned snark. We'll unravel the regal reigns of Judah's kings, because nothing says divine vision like a good, confusing genealogy. And let's not forget those living creatures with more eyes than a paranoid conspiracy theorist. It's like someone threw the animal kingdom into a blender and hit the "prophecy" button.

For those craving a side of science with their scripture, we bring in the heavy artillery: Joseph F. Blumrich's hypothesis that Ezekiel's "visions" were actually a close encounter of the third kind. Spoiler alert: Blumrich worked for NASA, so you know it's going to be out-of-this-world. Literally.

Prepare to have your beliefs rattled and your funny bone tickled as we ask the hard-hitting questions like, "Is this the work of God, or did Ezekiel just have a really bad stormy night?" We may never know, but one thing's for sure: This is one biblical chapter that could give any modern-day trip a run for its money.

Join us as we probe the most unfathomable narrative the Good Book has to offer, and leave no stone (or possible alien artifact) unturned. Tune in, turn on, and drop out of reality with us as we explore "Ezekiel Chapter 1: When Hallucinations Met Holy Scripture."

[00:01:26] Well, what have we learned so far?

[00:01:27] That God is a dick and apparently some people believe in talking donkeys.

[00:01:32] We're not trying to pass ourselves off as experts.

[00:01:34] Nope, we're just reading the Bible for the first time and giving our first take reaction.

[00:01:38] If you'd like to join us in this venture, you might consider starting that episode one.

[00:01:42] Otherwise jump in wherever you like.

[00:01:44] Alright, let's go read the Bible.

[00:01:46] Yeah, let's get to it.

[00:02:09] No.

[00:02:09] Okay.

[00:02:10] So yeah, we're starting a new book of the Bible which is Ezekiel.

[00:02:15] Indeed.

[00:02:16] I could have threw you off with that, yeah?

[00:02:18] Yeah, yeah.

[00:02:19] And so are you...

[00:02:21] Do you have anything to say before we get into this or we should just hop in?

[00:02:25] Just want to let you know ahead of time up front.

[00:02:28] Yeah.

[00:02:28] I think this book is going to be fucking wild.

[00:02:31] Wild, huh?

[00:02:32] Wild.

[00:02:32] I think that's the first time I've heard you use that descriptor for a book of the Bible.

[00:02:36] I'm not saying good or bad, just wild.

[00:02:39] Okay, all right.

[00:02:40] Well, I'm kind of excited now.

[00:02:42] As well you should be.

[00:04:32] All right, so we are hopping into Easy Kyle.

[00:04:35] Oh.

[00:04:36] Okay, Ezekiel chapter one.

[00:04:39] See, the second that you tell me that something annoys you, I feel obligated to go with it.

[00:04:44] I know you do.

[00:04:45] I know you do.

[00:04:46] I don't even have to tell you.

[00:04:47] You just have to like glean it for yourself.

[00:04:49] For those keeping track at home, that was husband rolling his eyes at me, the sound

[00:04:54] thereof.

[00:04:55] Also, the second I tell you not to do something is the second that you double

[00:04:58] down and do it harder and more.

[00:05:00] Yes, yes.

[00:05:00] And it's almost like you forget.

[00:05:03] It's like you don't even know me.

[00:05:04] Well, sometimes I feel like I could have like a rational conversation with you about it.

[00:05:08] Like an adult one?

[00:05:09] Yeah, yeah.

[00:05:10] But then that doesn't ever work out.

[00:05:12] Ever, ever.

[00:05:13] No, no.

[00:05:15] All right, so Ezekiel chapter one is about a prophet and his divine vision.

[00:05:23] Let me guess.

[00:05:24] His name's Ezekiel.

[00:05:25] Yeah, and he has a divine vision.

[00:05:27] Okay.

[00:05:28] Okay.

[00:05:28] And in the one that we're reading, the version that we're reading, it's

[00:05:34] subtitled Ezekiel's vision of God.

[00:05:37] But in other versions, it's subtitled Ezekiel's inaugural vision.

[00:05:43] Okay.

[00:05:44] And so there's like an argument about which fits better, I guess, even though the first

[00:05:51] refers to vision's plural.

[00:05:54] Okay.

[00:05:54] So that would, you know, what you think that.

[00:05:58] Strike that it's not just the first one.

[00:06:00] It's not just the one.

[00:06:00] It's a collection of.

[00:06:01] Yeah, yeah.

[00:06:03] So before I get into reading this, I just wanted to tell us a little bit about who this

[00:06:07] guy is and what this book's about.

[00:06:09] Sure.

[00:06:09] Okay.

[00:06:10] Yeah.

[00:06:10] So the first three verses form a superscription of the book and they contain the identity

[00:06:16] of the prophet as well as the time and place that the prophecy was received and

[00:06:22] delivered.

[00:06:23] Okay.

[00:06:24] Now, having read some of the notes, I would be less inclined to call this a prophecy and

[00:06:29] more a vision.

[00:06:30] But I'm just going to put that out there.

[00:06:33] You do with that as you will.

[00:06:34] And maybe we'll come back to that at the end and you tell me what you think.

[00:06:38] Okay.

[00:06:38] All right.

[00:06:39] Yeah.

[00:06:40] There are two distinct introductions.

[00:06:43] Verse one is in first person and it's where he introduces himself.

[00:06:48] Hey yo, my name's Ezekiel.

[00:06:50] What up?

[00:06:51] Got it.

[00:06:51] Yeah.

[00:06:51] And then verses two and three are the only two verses in this entire book written

[00:06:56] in third person.

[00:06:58] It's like somebody interrupted and was like, oh, hey, here's the year and whatever.

[00:07:02] Got it.

[00:07:03] Okay.

[00:07:03] Someone felt that was really important later on probably.

[00:07:06] Yeah.

[00:07:07] I think because there was some confusion in verse one, the way he says it.

[00:07:13] Okay.

[00:07:15] So let's just start the book now and then I'll pause as we go through.

[00:07:20] Sound okay?

[00:07:20] Yeah.

[00:07:21] All right.

[00:07:21] So Ezekiel chapter one in my 30th year in the fourth month on the fifth day, while

[00:07:29] I was among the exiles by the K bar river, the heavens were opened and I saw

[00:07:35] visions of God.

[00:07:36] Okay.

[00:07:37] Now he says in this verse in my 30th year, but most translations say in the

[00:07:43] 30th year of what?

[00:07:47] Right.

[00:07:47] That's the question.

[00:07:48] Nobody knows.

[00:07:49] Like, are you saying the 30th year of your life, which this translation assumes?

[00:07:53] Sure.

[00:07:54] So they changed it to my 30th year or are you saying the 30th year of somebody's

[00:08:00] rain or the exile or like what?

[00:08:03] Okay.

[00:08:03] So that's why we're going to continue on and somebody clarifies.

[00:08:08] Okay.

[00:08:08] Yeah.

[00:08:09] So now we're starting verse two and then from there.

[00:08:11] Sure.

[00:08:13] On the fifth day of the month, it was the fifth year of the exile of King

[00:08:17] Joaquin.

[00:08:18] The word of the Lord came to Ezekiel, the priest, the son of boozy by the K bar

[00:08:24] river in the land of the Babylonians.

[00:08:27] There the hand of the Lord was upon him.

[00:08:29] So this sounds like he is one of the ones that got exiled earlier on and is

[00:08:35] out there in Babylon, right?

[00:08:37] Is that maybe correct?

[00:08:38] That is actually 100% correct.

[00:08:41] Okay.

[00:08:41] And so now I'm going to read you a few notes about this with

[00:08:45] regard to placing it in time.

[00:08:46] Got it.

[00:08:47] Okay.

[00:08:47] Yeah.

[00:08:48] So it's been suggested from what, from verse one where Ezekiel says in the 30th

[00:08:54] year and we don't know if it's the 30th or my 30th.

[00:08:57] Yeah.

[00:08:57] Um, it's been suggested that the date that he's citing corresponds to July 24th,

[00:09:04] 568 BCE, but that doesn't really fit.

[00:09:08] Yeah.

[00:09:09] Okay.

[00:09:10] So, um, going forward, um, we have some notes that indicate Ezekiel was probably

[00:09:17] born sometime between 622 to 627.

[00:09:24] Okay.

[00:09:24] And thus likely grew up during the reform years of King Josiah and King Josiah

[00:09:30] rained from 640 to 609.

[00:09:34] Okay.

[00:09:34] So, and then he was born right in the middle of that.

[00:09:37] Got it.

[00:09:37] Yeah.

[00:09:38] So Ezekiel had already been in Babylon five years and was now 30 years old, the

[00:09:44] age at which he normally would have begun his priestly services in the

[00:09:47] temple in Jerusalem, but he's not in Jerusalem.

[00:09:50] So he's in exile.

[00:09:52] He's in exile.

[00:09:53] Okay.

[00:09:53] Okay.

[00:09:54] And so then I've got a little timeline here.

[00:09:57] Okay.

[00:09:57] Sure.

[00:09:57] Just to put everything into context.

[00:09:59] Yeah.

[00:10:00] Okay.

[00:10:00] So in 640 Josiah takes the throne.

[00:10:04] He's King.

[00:10:05] Okay.

[00:10:05] Okay.

[00:10:06] Sometime between 627 and 622 Ezekiel is born.

[00:10:11] Okay.

[00:10:11] Okay.

[00:10:12] And then in 609 Josiah's son, Jehoahaz is briefly named King, but he's replaced

[00:10:20] by Joachim at the order of Niko of Egypt.

[00:10:23] Sure.

[00:10:24] Yeah.

[00:10:24] Okay.

[00:10:25] Then in 605 Jerusalem was attacked and captives were taken to Babylon.

[00:10:30] Ezekiel's not in that group.

[00:10:32] Got it.

[00:10:32] Okay.

[00:10:33] In 598 Jechiniah becomes King.

[00:10:37] Okay.

[00:10:37] In 597 Zedekiah becomes King and he was the final one.

[00:10:42] Okay.

[00:10:43] Okay.

[00:10:44] Jerusalem was attacked, treasure taken from the temple and more captives

[00:10:48] taken to Babylon including Ezekiel and his wife.

[00:10:52] Okay.

[00:10:53] Got it.

[00:10:53] Well, wasn't you, you skipped one I thought.

[00:10:55] I thought Joachim was right before Zedekiah.

[00:11:00] Joachim and Jechiniah are the same person.

[00:11:04] Okay.

[00:11:05] All right.

[00:11:05] So yeah, I didn't realize that until I was doing these notes that one is the

[00:11:11] biblical name and one is the common name.

[00:11:14] Okay.

[00:11:15] But they're the same guy.

[00:11:16] So you're not wrong.

[00:11:17] Because you said something about Joachim or Joachim, which one is it?

[00:11:21] The Joachim or Joachim?

[00:11:23] M.

[00:11:24] M.

[00:11:24] Okay.

[00:11:25] So you said something about him when you were talking about Ezekiel just a

[00:11:28] minute ago.

[00:11:28] So that's, and then we skipped it as to like that was one of the people that they

[00:11:31] had exiled.

[00:11:32] So I was just curious.

[00:11:34] Yeah.

[00:11:35] Yeah.

[00:11:35] Um, Jechiniah is Joachim.

[00:11:38] Okay.

[00:11:39] Okay.

[00:11:39] And so he became king in 598, but that was real short.

[00:11:44] Right.

[00:11:44] Okay.

[00:11:45] And then so in 597 Zedekiah became king.

[00:11:48] But it sounded like Ezekiel got exiled with Joachim or Jechiniah.

[00:11:54] No, I'm not there yet.

[00:11:56] Okay.

[00:11:56] No.

[00:11:57] All right.

[00:11:57] Um, when Zedekiah became king, Jerusalem was attacked.

[00:12:01] Treasure was taken from the temple and more captives.

[00:12:05] This is the second wave.

[00:12:06] Okay.

[00:12:06] Um, we're taking a Babylon and that wave included Ezekiel and his wife.

[00:12:12] Got it.

[00:12:12] Okay.

[00:12:12] Okay.

[00:12:13] And then in 593 is when Ezekiel has his vision.

[00:12:18] Okay.

[00:12:18] Okay.

[00:12:19] And then in 587 Jerusalem falls and almost everyone remaining in the

[00:12:24] kingdom was exiled.

[00:12:26] Zedekiah, the last king of Judah is blinded and imprisoned.

[00:12:29] Sure.

[00:12:30] Okay.

[00:12:30] Mm hmm.

[00:12:31] So we have a better sense of where it is and what's going on.

[00:12:34] Right.

[00:12:35] So, um, the verse and verses two and three, like I said, they're not

[00:12:41] Ezekiels, they're an added interruption and we don't know who did that.

[00:12:45] Sure.

[00:12:46] Okay.

[00:12:46] Okay.

[00:12:47] All right.

[00:12:48] So let me go back now and we're going to just continue on.

[00:12:51] Okay.

[00:12:52] So we've read the first three verses and already had tons of notes,

[00:12:56] but I felt like it was important to understand how this all fit together.

[00:13:00] Set the stage.

[00:13:01] Yeah.

[00:13:01] Yeah.

[00:13:02] Okay.

[00:13:02] So now we're getting into his vision ready.

[00:13:04] I'm ready.

[00:13:06] I looked and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north and immense

[00:13:11] cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light.

[00:13:15] The center of the fire looked like glowing metal and in the fire

[00:13:20] was what looked like four living creatures.

[00:13:23] Whoa.

[00:13:23] In appearance, their form was human, but each of them had four faces and

[00:13:28] four wings.

[00:13:29] What?

[00:13:30] This guy needs to lay off the drugs.

[00:13:31] Right?

[00:13:32] Yeah.

[00:13:32] Their legs were straight.

[00:13:34] Their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished

[00:13:38] bronze.

[00:13:39] Hmm.

[00:13:40] Under their wings on their four sides, they had human hands.

[00:13:44] All four of them had faces and wings and the wings of one touched

[00:13:48] the wings of another.

[00:13:50] Okay.

[00:13:51] Each one went straight ahead.

[00:13:52] They did not turn as they moved.

[00:13:55] Their faces look like this.

[00:13:57] Each of the four had the face of a human being and on the right

[00:14:01] side, each had the face of a lion and on the left side, the

[00:14:05] face of an ox and each also had the face of an eagle.

[00:14:09] This is kind of crazy.

[00:14:11] Right?

[00:14:11] What the fuck is happening?

[00:14:13] I don't know, but four, four people faced pee things flying at

[00:14:17] you.

[00:14:17] Four people each had four faces.

[00:14:19] Okay.

[00:14:20] Okay.

[00:14:20] And different animals and man, this guy's on some good shit.

[00:14:24] Right?

[00:14:25] Yeah.

[00:14:25] Such were their faces.

[00:14:26] They each had two wings spreading out upward, each wing

[00:14:30] touching that of the creature on either side and each had two

[00:14:34] other wings covering its body.

[00:14:38] Okay.

[00:14:38] Okay.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:40] Each one went straight ahead.

[00:14:42] Wherever the spirit would go, they would go without turning

[00:14:45] as they went.

[00:14:46] So they're like all together one unit.

[00:14:48] Yeah.

[00:14:49] Okay.

[00:14:49] Okay.

[00:14:50] The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals

[00:14:54] of fire or like torches.

[00:14:56] Fire moved back and forth among the creatures.

[00:14:59] It was bright and lightning flashed out of it.

[00:15:02] Wow.

[00:15:02] The creature sounds like a storm.

[00:15:04] It sounds like maybe in drugs.

[00:15:07] Sounds like a storm in drugs.

[00:15:08] A storm of drugs.

[00:15:11] It's raining drugs over here.

[00:15:13] Yeah.

[00:15:14] The creature sped back and forth like flashes of lightning.

[00:15:18] But you mean it's because they were lightning?

[00:15:20] Probably.

[00:15:22] I'm just, I mean, I was reading the notes and I was like,

[00:15:25] what is happening?

[00:15:26] Right.

[00:15:27] As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the

[00:15:31] ground beside each creature with its four faces.

[00:15:36] This was the appearance and structure of the wheels.

[00:15:38] Okay.

[00:15:39] We're going to describe the wheels.

[00:15:41] Yes.

[00:15:41] Are you ready for this?

[00:15:42] I guess.

[00:15:43] They sparkled like topaz.

[00:15:45] Wow.

[00:15:46] And all four looked alike.

[00:15:47] Damn.

[00:15:48] Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel.

[00:15:52] Because they, everything touches in his visions, apparently.

[00:15:55] The wings and the wheels.

[00:15:56] They have wheels within wheels.

[00:15:58] And wings within wings.

[00:16:00] As they moved, they were.

[00:16:01] Faces within faces.

[00:16:03] Right.

[00:16:03] Exactly.

[00:16:04] It's all just combined.

[00:16:06] It's so meta.

[00:16:06] Yeah.

[00:16:07] As they moved, they would go in any one of the four

[00:16:09] directions the creatures faced.

[00:16:12] The wheels did not change directions as the creatures went.

[00:16:16] The rims were high and awesome.

[00:16:19] They had been the lift kits.

[00:16:22] And all four rims were full of eyes all around.

[00:16:27] What is wrong with this guy?

[00:16:29] What the fuck is going on?

[00:16:32] I'm a little bit confused.

[00:16:33] No, I'm not just a little bit confused.

[00:16:35] I'm like, what is happening here?

[00:16:37] This is the Bible.

[00:16:42] I'm sorry.

[00:16:42] I don't mean to be rude, but what the everlasting fuck?

[00:16:46] No, this is crazy.

[00:16:48] When the living creatures moved, the wheels beside them moved.

[00:16:52] And when the living creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.

[00:16:57] Wherever the spirit would go, they would go.

[00:17:00] And the wheels would rise along with them because the spirit of the living

[00:17:05] creatures was in the wheels.

[00:17:08] We're okay.

[00:17:08] We're.

[00:17:09] Oh, Jesus Christ.

[00:17:10] We're talking about a living creature.

[00:17:13] There's been no mention of God yet.

[00:17:15] Like what kind of vision is this?

[00:17:18] We're getting there.

[00:17:19] Oh my God.

[00:17:20] When the creatures moved, they also moved.

[00:17:22] When the creatures stood still, they also stood still.

[00:17:26] And when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose along with them.

[00:17:31] So all the things moved together.

[00:17:33] Okay.

[00:17:33] Because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

[00:17:38] It was in the wheels.

[00:17:41] Do you hear me?

[00:17:42] What is this in the Bible?

[00:17:44] Just listen.

[00:17:44] What the fuck is this?

[00:17:46] Listen with an open heart.

[00:17:50] You have to open your heart.

[00:17:52] Okay.

[00:17:53] Okay.

[00:17:54] Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked

[00:17:58] like something like a vault.

[00:18:00] A vault, huh?

[00:18:01] Sparkling like crystal and awesome.

[00:18:05] Because the topaz wheels with eyeballs wasn't awesome enough.

[00:18:10] Now we've got a vault that was sparkling.

[00:18:13] Okay.

[00:18:14] Under the vault, their wings were stretched out one toward the other.

[00:18:18] And each had two wings covering its body.

[00:18:21] You know, you said that already.

[00:18:23] Yeah.

[00:18:23] Okay.

[00:18:23] When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like

[00:18:28] the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the almighty.

[00:18:32] Oh.

[00:18:33] Like the tumult of an army.

[00:18:36] Okay.

[00:18:36] But don't you wonder how he heard the sound of the wings when they

[00:18:38] were touching each other the whole time?

[00:18:40] I don't know how it works.

[00:18:41] How do they wing?

[00:18:42] How do they do the wings shit while touching each other?

[00:18:46] So I don't know.

[00:18:47] It's magic.

[00:18:49] But it sounded like the Lord, huh?

[00:18:51] It's in the Bible.

[00:18:52] The wings sounded like the word?

[00:18:53] The Lord?

[00:18:55] The word of the Lord.

[00:18:56] The word of the Lord, yeah.

[00:18:58] When they stood still, they lowered their wings.

[00:19:00] When there came a voice from the vault over their heads as they

[00:19:04] stood with lowered wings.

[00:19:06] Oh, here we go.

[00:19:07] Ready?

[00:19:07] I'm ready.

[00:19:08] The voice, right?

[00:19:09] This has got to be God.

[00:19:11] I'm so excited.

[00:19:13] This is one hell of a vision.

[00:19:14] I told you that this book was going to be crazy.

[00:19:18] Something's crazy.

[00:19:20] That's for sure.

[00:19:21] Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a

[00:19:24] throne of lapis lazuli.

[00:19:27] Oh man.

[00:19:28] And high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.

[00:19:32] Okay, okay.

[00:19:33] I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up.

[00:19:36] He looked like glowing metal.

[00:19:39] Wow.

[00:19:40] Not in the image of man, but glowing metal.

[00:19:42] As if full of fire and fire, fire and metal.

[00:19:47] Okay.

[00:19:47] From there down, he looked like fire and brilliant light

[00:19:52] surrounded him like the appearance of a rainbow in the

[00:19:56] clouds on a rainy day.

[00:19:58] Maybe this guy looked at the sun too long.

[00:20:00] I don't know what's going on here, but this is craziness.

[00:20:02] So was the radiance around him.

[00:20:05] Hmm.

[00:20:05] Okay.

[00:20:06] This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of

[00:20:09] the Lord.

[00:20:10] So it's not the Lord.

[00:20:11] It's a likeness of the Lord.

[00:20:13] You know, we can't see the Lord with our bare human

[00:20:15] little stupid puny eyeballs.

[00:20:17] There's a likeness of the Lord in the sky.

[00:20:20] In a vault.

[00:20:21] In a vault above crazy ass angels that with four, four

[00:20:25] heads.

[00:20:26] And, and wheels that have topaz eyeballs and eyeballs in

[00:20:30] them or something.

[00:20:32] Okay.

[00:20:32] When I saw it, I fell face down.

[00:20:35] I suppose I might if I saw that.

[00:20:37] And I heard the voice of one speaking.

[00:20:40] Okay.

[00:20:41] The end.

[00:20:42] Oh, just just.

[00:20:42] Chapter one.

[00:20:44] Yes.

[00:20:44] This is our introduction to Ezekiel.

[00:20:46] That's why I was like, this book is going to be wild.

[00:20:51] Okay.

[00:20:52] Now I have some notes.

[00:20:53] Okay.

[00:20:53] And I got to read you these notes.

[00:20:56] All right.

[00:20:56] Yeah.

[00:20:57] So this description where he says the appearance of the

[00:21:01] wheels and how they looked alike and the wheel was

[00:21:05] intersecting the wheel.

[00:21:06] Yes.

[00:21:07] This becomes the inspiration for the construction of

[00:21:10] the Ezekiel airship.

[00:21:13] And what the fuck?

[00:21:14] Okay.

[00:21:14] Yes.

[00:21:15] What is happening?

[00:21:15] Yes.

[00:21:16] We have to talk about this.

[00:21:18] This is a rabbit hole.

[00:21:20] And sorry, guys.

[00:21:22] I was like, we got to get to this airship.

[00:21:26] Okay.

[00:21:26] Okay.

[00:21:27] The Ezekiel airship was an early experimental aircraft

[00:21:32] conceived, designed and built by the Baptist minister,

[00:21:36] Burrell Cannon.

[00:21:37] Of course, his name was Burrell.

[00:21:40] An experienced sawmill operator born in 1848 in

[00:21:45] Coffeyville, Mississippi.

[00:21:47] Okay.

[00:21:48] All right.

[00:21:48] Inspired by and named after the book of Ezekiel,

[00:21:52] the crafts design featured four wheel within a wheel

[00:21:56] paddle wheels powered by a four cylinder gasoline engine.

[00:22:01] There are unverified claims that it was flown in 1902

[00:22:05] in Pittsburgh, Texas, a year before the right flyer

[00:22:09] flew at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

[00:22:13] And that's a little personal because you know, the

[00:22:14] Wright brothers came from Ohio.

[00:22:17] Yeah.

[00:22:18] So right.

[00:22:18] In fact, our hometown Dayton.

[00:22:20] So yeah.

[00:22:22] In the presence of only a handful of witnesses, the

[00:22:26] aircraft is alleged to have flown approximately 160 feet

[00:22:31] at a height of between 10 and 12 feet.

[00:22:34] There is of course no physical evidence that such a

[00:22:37] flight ever took place.

[00:22:39] And most historians have generally discounted any

[00:22:43] claims that the airship ever flew.

[00:22:45] Okay.

[00:22:46] The original aircraft was destroyed in a storm

[00:22:49] near Texarkana in route to St. Louis for the 1904

[00:22:53] World's Fair.

[00:22:55] Got it.

[00:22:55] Okay.

[00:22:56] Okay.

[00:22:57] Canon had accepted a challenge extended by the

[00:23:00] organizers of the World's Fair promising $100,000 back

[00:23:05] then.

[00:23:06] Damn.

[00:23:06] That would be equivalent to over $35 million today.

[00:23:10] Yeah.

[00:23:11] So they were offering that to anyone who could make a

[00:23:14] sustained controlled flight in St. Louis at that World

[00:23:17] Fair.

[00:23:18] And so it, you know, got destroyed on the way.

[00:23:21] Yeah.

[00:23:22] And then in 1922, Canon's original plans were

[00:23:25] destroyed in a fire.

[00:23:27] Oh man.

[00:23:28] Yeah.

[00:23:28] Yeah.

[00:23:29] This all sounds very convenient.

[00:23:30] Well, it's been reconstructed and is now in a

[00:23:33] museum in North Carolina.

[00:23:35] So you can go see it.

[00:23:37] Yeah.

[00:23:37] Burel Canon has been described as a Renaissance

[00:23:41] man in an industrial, industrial age.

[00:23:45] Canon had a strong command of engineering principles

[00:23:49] and he held patents for six different inventions,

[00:23:52] including designs ranging from marine propellers to

[00:23:56] windmills to cameras.

[00:23:58] This guy was a tinkerer.

[00:24:00] He was a flimflam man in my opinion.

[00:24:03] He apparently spoke eight different languages and did

[00:24:06] his preaching on the side before moving into

[00:24:09] tinkering and inventing.

[00:24:10] Okay.

[00:24:11] Okay.

[00:24:11] Yeah.

[00:24:12] So that we've got that.

[00:24:14] That's he built that based on, you know, the

[00:24:17] description in the Bible.

[00:24:19] Right.

[00:24:19] And that it's a known thing.

[00:24:21] It's just a thing that we talk about.

[00:24:23] It's the Ezekiel airship.

[00:24:25] You know, I didn't know anything about it until

[00:24:27] now.

[00:24:28] The Ezekiel airship.

[00:24:29] But that's not all.

[00:24:30] That was more very modern compared to that's not

[00:24:33] anything to do with the Bible.

[00:24:34] No, it just was a fun rabbit hole.

[00:24:36] Okay.

[00:24:36] All right.

[00:24:37] I got another one ready.

[00:24:38] Okay.

[00:24:39] Let's talk about the spaceships of Ezekiel.

[00:24:43] Okay.

[00:24:44] Okay.

[00:24:44] So there's a book called the spaceships of Ezekiel

[00:24:47] and it's a book by German engineer Joseph F.

[00:24:50] Blumrich and it was published in 1974.

[00:24:54] It's about a spaceship that was supposedly

[00:24:56] observed by the prophet Ezekiel as described

[00:24:59] in the book of Ezekiel in the Tanakh.

[00:25:01] That's funny.

[00:25:02] I just was listening to a podcast where they

[00:25:06] were talking about Tucker Carlson.

[00:25:09] Actually, it was a thinking atheist.

[00:25:10] So I was listening to that podcast and they

[00:25:13] were talking about how Tucker Carlson mentioned

[00:25:18] that Ezekiel saw a spaceship because they

[00:25:21] were talking about UFOs and God.

[00:25:22] I mean, anyway, apparently there's some thoughts

[00:25:25] that Ezekiel saw a UFO.

[00:25:27] Well, this guy Blumrich, he asserts that the

[00:25:30] account of Ezekiel in the Bible was not a

[00:25:32] description of a meeting with God in a

[00:25:34] prophetic vision, but one of several encounters

[00:25:38] with ancient astronauts in a shuttlecraft

[00:25:41] from another planet.

[00:25:43] Blumrich wrote it while working in NASA's

[00:25:45] program development office.

[00:25:48] Okay.

[00:25:49] He worked for fucking NASA.

[00:25:51] Yeah.

[00:25:51] The book is rated 3.43 on Goodreads, but I

[00:25:56] couldn't get it from my library.

[00:25:58] I'd have to order a physical copy because

[00:26:01] it's that.

[00:26:02] So maybe what happened to Ezekiel is

[00:26:04] actually just like a close encounter.

[00:26:06] Is that a possibility?

[00:26:08] Okay.

[00:26:09] Drugs and a close encounter?

[00:26:11] Sure.

[00:26:11] That's what I'm thinking anyway.

[00:26:12] Now question, we haven't heard the God like

[00:26:16] image, whatever.

[00:26:17] We haven't heard him speak yet.

[00:26:18] That's in coming chapters.

[00:26:20] Right.

[00:26:20] I'm excited about that.

[00:26:21] But was this a vision or a prophecy?

[00:26:24] I mean, it seems like a vision.

[00:26:25] That's what I thought.

[00:26:26] Like this, this seems too crazy for a

[00:26:29] dream.

[00:26:30] Like why would you tell anybody this

[00:26:31] dream?

[00:26:31] Right.

[00:26:32] This is that just sounds nuts.

[00:26:33] You would have to have seen this in

[00:26:34] order to like, you would have to if

[00:26:38] you, I don't know, you would have to

[00:26:39] have seen this.

[00:26:40] It would be like just two fucking nuts.

[00:26:42] If I came home and I told you, honey,

[00:26:45] I saw this thing.

[00:26:46] Listen, listen, listen.

[00:26:48] And then I told you about it.

[00:26:50] You would look at me like I was cuckoo

[00:26:52] for Cocoa Puffs and you would call

[00:26:54] the men in white coats to come get

[00:26:56] me because you would be like, you

[00:26:58] dumb flipped your lid and gone too

[00:27:00] far.

[00:27:00] And I would, I would know.

[00:27:02] I wouldn't call the people to come

[00:27:03] get you, but I would definitely

[00:27:04] question you would be concerned

[00:27:06] what the hell is going on.

[00:27:08] You would be like your mental health

[00:27:09] has never been great.

[00:27:11] Have you finally lost your goddamn

[00:27:13] mind?

[00:27:16] And if we saw this together,

[00:27:18] we would both be like, what the

[00:27:21] fuck did we just see?

[00:27:23] And I don't think we would try to

[00:27:24] tell people because then we'd be

[00:27:26] crazy.

[00:27:27] We'd be labeled as flim flams

[00:27:28] ourselves.

[00:27:29] Yeah.

[00:27:30] Well, I mean, I'd want to find out

[00:27:32] what I saw.

[00:27:33] If I saw something, I'd be like,

[00:27:35] I saw something.

[00:27:36] But then I'd be like, what the

[00:27:37] fuck was it?

[00:27:37] Because that can't be correct.

[00:27:39] Remember when we saw zombies

[00:27:40] falling from the sky?

[00:27:42] Well, we saw lights.

[00:27:44] Yeah, we didn't see.

[00:27:45] We didn't see zombies.

[00:27:46] OK, but they were zombies.

[00:27:47] They turned out to be zombies,

[00:27:49] which is a whole other story.

[00:27:50] But like, yeah, that we saw

[00:27:51] lights that were like circling

[00:27:53] and then lining up.

[00:27:54] And it turned out that it was

[00:27:56] a place that was like

[00:27:59] six or seven miles from us that

[00:28:00] was having skydiving.

[00:28:03] It was like land.

[00:28:04] It was land of illusion, right?

[00:28:06] Yeah.

[00:28:06] And they were, um,

[00:28:08] yeah, they were doing a Halloween

[00:28:10] skydiving thing with

[00:28:12] skydiving zombies with torches.

[00:28:14] Yeah.

[00:28:14] So that's what we saw.

[00:28:15] But they had neglected to tell

[00:28:17] anybody so everybody was like

[00:28:19] calling the police like, what the

[00:28:20] fuck is this?

[00:28:21] Yeah.

[00:28:22] What is happening?

[00:28:23] Right.

[00:28:23] Oh, you know, just zombies

[00:28:25] falling out of the sky.

[00:28:26] No bigs.

[00:28:26] Yeah.

[00:28:27] Like if I would have seen one

[00:28:29] of those, I'd have lost my shit.

[00:28:30] But I'm more inclined to think

[00:28:31] that there is a

[00:28:33] exclamation explanation for it

[00:28:34] than not.

[00:28:35] So, you know, me and your

[00:28:36] brother, we were like, well,

[00:28:38] it's the end of the world, I

[00:28:39] guess.

[00:28:42] And you were running inside to

[00:28:43] go call the meteorology

[00:28:46] people to be like, OK, so a

[00:28:48] thing is happening.

[00:28:49] Right.

[00:28:49] What is this?

[00:28:50] Yeah.

[00:28:50] Yeah.

[00:28:51] Yeah.

[00:28:51] So anyway, we got way off

[00:28:53] on topic on this one.

[00:28:55] I mean, maybe not though.

[00:28:56] Maybe Ezekiel was seeing

[00:28:58] some, you know, skydiving

[00:29:00] zombies.

[00:29:01] More than like, yeah.

[00:29:03] It's just as likely.

[00:29:04] Sure.

[00:29:04] It's just as likely as what

[00:29:06] he's claiming.

[00:29:07] Or some really rare, you know,

[00:29:08] phenomenon like weather

[00:29:09] phenomenon.

[00:29:10] That's true.

[00:29:11] You know, that would that would

[00:29:12] be more likely in my mind.

[00:29:13] That's what I think.

[00:29:14] That's because he kept referring

[00:29:15] to lightning and, you know,

[00:29:17] I'm like, OK, so you saw

[00:29:19] something really weird.

[00:29:20] And it means your eyes flash,

[00:29:21] which can happen.

[00:29:23] Like, like when you see a

[00:29:24] really bright lightning

[00:29:26] and you can see like several

[00:29:28] different lightnings fork into

[00:29:30] each other.

[00:29:31] Yeah.

[00:29:31] Yeah.

[00:29:32] Your eyes, it'll be like you

[00:29:33] just look at the sun and your

[00:29:35] eyes will like.

[00:29:36] Yeah. You can't see correctly.

[00:29:37] White and stuff like that that

[00:29:39] are going to be there.

[00:29:40] And you can't see correctly

[00:29:41] after that.

[00:29:41] Like that's happened to me

[00:29:42] before.

[00:29:43] So yeah.

[00:29:44] Who knows what I'm thinking

[00:29:45] really weird weather phenomenon.

[00:29:47] That's that's what I'm thinking

[00:29:48] happened here.

[00:29:48] And if if anything happened at

[00:29:50] all, like if we're assuming

[00:29:52] that this actually happened

[00:29:53] and this just isn't all lie.

[00:29:54] Right.

[00:29:55] It was something weird weather

[00:29:57] phenomenon.

[00:29:57] Yeah.

[00:29:57] That's that's all.

[00:29:59] I wonder if there's a way

[00:30:01] to like trace storms like.

[00:30:03] No, not from like 2000

[00:30:06] years ago.

[00:30:06] I know.

[00:30:07] I'm just like, man, if we could

[00:30:09] like trace weather like that

[00:30:11] though to find out what kind of

[00:30:12] shit was happening.

[00:30:13] Like I know you could track

[00:30:14] like meteor

[00:30:19] showers and stuff like that.

[00:30:21] Yeah.

[00:30:22] And you know, great.

[00:30:24] Right.

[00:30:24] But not just lightning storms.

[00:30:26] No, not just lightning.

[00:30:26] I know I'm just I'm thinking

[00:30:28] out loud.

[00:30:28] OK.

[00:30:29] All right.

[00:30:29] I was just like that would be

[00:30:31] cool to be like no this thing

[00:30:33] happened there and that's what

[00:30:35] he saw.

[00:30:35] No, but we can say what's more

[00:30:37] likely.

[00:30:37] Was it a weather phenomenon

[00:30:39] or was it fucking what he

[00:30:40] described here?

[00:30:41] A God, God, more likely is that

[00:30:43] it was a weather phenomenon.

[00:30:45] Because because that's just

[00:30:46] that that that was just

[00:30:47] described to us here in the

[00:30:48] Bible.

[00:30:49] That's weird.

[00:30:49] Fucking nutty.

[00:30:50] It's weird like what an odd

[00:30:53] configuration of items

[00:30:55] to smash together.

[00:30:56] Yeah.

[00:30:56] Yeah.

[00:30:57] He's a weirdo.

[00:30:58] I mean he's probably been

[00:31:00] inundated if he's going to

[00:31:01] be a product he was going

[00:31:01] to be a prophet.

[00:31:02] He's probably been inundated.

[00:31:03] No, he was going to be a

[00:31:04] minister.

[00:31:05] He got tapped to be a prophet.

[00:31:06] Regardless, he's spent his

[00:31:08] whole life being in the

[00:31:09] religious world of that time.

[00:31:12] So he's been inundated with

[00:31:13] imagery and beliefs

[00:31:15] and things like that.

[00:31:16] And then he sees something

[00:31:17] weird and he's going to

[00:31:18] attribute weird things to it.

[00:31:20] That's that's what I think

[00:31:22] probably if this happened is

[00:31:24] what happened.

[00:31:25] So anyway, I agree with you

[00:31:27] obviously.

[00:31:28] Do you have any more little

[00:31:29] you know tidbits to share

[00:31:30] with us before we get out

[00:31:31] of here?

[00:31:32] I kind of want to read that

[00:31:33] book. But that's about it.

[00:31:35] We're not going to read that

[00:31:36] book on air.

[00:31:36] No, no, no, no.

[00:31:39] No, so I did

[00:31:40] I did add it to my

[00:31:42] Goodreads.

[00:31:43] I want to read this book list.

[00:31:44] There you go. There you go.

[00:31:46] All right. So that was a

[00:31:47] Zekeel chapter one.

[00:31:48] Sure as fuck was.

[00:31:49] Which means we will be back

[00:31:51] tomorrow with

[00:31:52] Easy K chapter two.

[00:31:53] Zekeel chapter two.

[00:31:55] Bye guys.

[00:32:04] Hey wife, I guess that's

[00:32:05] the end.

[00:32:06] But husband, that's just

[00:32:07] sad.

[00:32:08] It doesn't have to be.

[00:32:08] We are on lots of social media

[00:32:10] platforms like Twitter.

[00:32:11] Our handle there is sacrilegious

[00:32:12] underscore D for

[00:32:14] D's nuts.
