[00:02:43] Welcome to SACRELIGIOUS DISCORSE!

[00:02:52] I'm husband.

[00:02:53] And I'm wife.

[00:02:54] Together we're reading the Bible for the very first time.

[00:02:57] We grew up without religion and wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

[00:03:01] Well what have we learned so far?

[00:03:02] That God is a dick and apparently some people believe in talking donkeys?

[00:03:07] We're not trying to pass ourselves off as experts.

[00:03:09] Nope! We're just reading the Bible for the first time and giving our first take reaction.

[00:03:13] If you'd like to join us in this venture, you might consider starting that episode one.

[00:03:17] Otherwise jump in wherever you like.

[00:03:19] Alright let's go read the Bible.

[00:03:21] Yeah, let's get to it.

[00:03:25] Husband!

[00:03:26] Wife!

[00:03:27] Do you remember what the hell we did on Friday and where the hell we are today?

[00:03:31] Well, on Friday we read Ezekiel chapter 20.

[00:03:35] Sure as fuck did!

[00:03:36] And in that episode, Ezekiel had the elders in front of him again.

[00:03:42] Like he was meeting with them I guess.

[00:03:44] Cause they're always like, what did God say?

[00:03:46] Right right yeah and God was like talking through Ezekiel obviously cause that's the way that God does you know.

[00:03:51] He was like tell him I said talk to the hand.

[00:03:53] Right yeah and God was recounting how he led them out of Egypt and then they fucked him over

[00:04:01] cause they worshipped other gods and he's like fine you can sort of live sometimes.

[00:04:06] And then he was like, but then later on he was going to let them into the Promised Land

[00:04:11] and then they still kept worshipping idols and he was like I was gonna fuck him up but then I didn't

[00:04:16] and then I let him in anyway.

[00:04:18] And why wouldn't he kill them?

[00:04:20] Cause he was worried about what the neighbors would think.

[00:04:22] Yeah.

[00:04:23] I mean as you do you gotta worry about what the neighbors think.

[00:04:26] It's that you gotta keep up with the Joneses you know.

[00:04:28] You gotta do what you gotta do.

[00:04:29] Cause Egyptians would think that he was evil.

[00:04:31] Right but he did say you know I am withholding or I'm reserving the right to enact judgment

[00:04:38] on you at some point in the future and but then I'm also gonna restore you guys too.

[00:04:42] So like I'm gonna kill you and then I'm gonna make you better.

[00:04:45] And so that seems to be the entire theme of the Old Testament.

[00:04:48] Yes.

[00:04:49] And it was all wrapped into that chapter and that's what that one was about.

[00:04:52] It's true.

[00:04:52] Yeah.

[00:04:53] You got it.

[00:04:54] Before we get into what today is going to be though, I do have an announcement to

[00:04:58] make and as you probably all know already, we are in the midst of a Patreon drive and

[00:05:03] we're trying to get to a level of $400 per month to take care of some of the needs

[00:05:06] that we need to get done for our podcast.

[00:05:10] That being said, we have a new patron.

[00:05:12] What?

[00:05:13] Yeah.

[00:05:14] So our new patron is...

[00:05:16] Runghild.

[00:05:18] Runghild.

[00:05:19] Yes.

[00:05:20] I hope we pronounced that right.

[00:05:21] We did look up pronunciation.

[00:05:23] Because it's Scandinavian?

[00:05:25] It is Scandinavian.

[00:05:26] Yeah.

[00:05:27] So and we were very confused as to how to pronounce it when we saw it.

[00:05:31] Runghild.

[00:05:32] Runghild.

[00:05:32] I love it.

[00:05:34] Thank you so much for supporting us.

[00:05:37] Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.

[00:05:39] Yeah.

[00:05:40] No, it means the world and this whole response that we've gotten from people

[00:05:46] when we've asked for this help has been absolutely incredible.

[00:05:51] Like, I mean, we really appreciate you guys taking the time out of your day to

[00:05:56] visit our site and go over and actually take the time to support us.

[00:06:00] I mean, I know, you know, it's not easy doing that.

[00:06:05] You have to...

[00:06:05] You took the steps.

[00:06:06] You have to specifically make the steps to do it.

[00:06:08] So thank you so much.

[00:06:10] It really means the world to us and it helps us out more than you will ever know.

[00:06:15] And we just can't say thank you enough.

[00:06:17] Thank you.

[00:06:18] Runghild.

[00:06:20] Thank you so much for your support and we hope to hear from you soon.

[00:06:24] And we would love for you to join us on our Discord on Tuesdays.

[00:06:30] Actually, that goes for everybody because honestly, we probably talk the most...

[00:06:36] Like that's where we have our just normal chats with fans.

[00:06:39] That's where we hang out.

[00:06:40] That's where we hang out.

[00:06:41] If we hang out anywhere, that's where we hang out.

[00:06:43] Yeah.

[00:06:43] So Discord is where it's at.

[00:06:46] And I'm trying to be better about actually checking in even on non-Tuesday talk times.

[00:06:51] Right.

[00:06:52] And it's kind of a thing.

[00:06:54] So come talk to me and make me talk to you.

[00:06:56] Yes, tag wife, maker come to the Discord channel.

[00:07:00] Get me to the table.

[00:07:01] Yeah.

[00:07:02] Yeah.

[00:07:03] So anyway, we just got done reading on Friday Ezekiel chapter 20.

[00:07:08] Which means that today we're getting into...

[00:07:10] Ezekiel chapter 21.

[00:07:12] All right, let's do this.

[00:07:13] Okey-dokey.

[00:07:16] All right.

[00:07:23] We are hopping into Ezekiel chapter 21.

[00:07:27] Or as I like to call it, Ezekiel chapter 21.

[00:07:30] But Ezekiel is so much more fun.

[00:07:32] It really is.

[00:07:32] It really is.

[00:07:33] You're right.

[00:07:33] You win that contest.

[00:07:35] I just want to make sure our listeners know what they're listening to.

[00:07:38] Well...

[00:07:38] I'm just saying that's the only reason.

[00:07:41] The only reason otherwise it's Ezekiel all the way.

[00:07:44] You know?

[00:07:45] Before we actually begin reading though,

[00:07:48] I have a couple of notes that I should deliver.

[00:07:51] Okay, yeah.

[00:07:52] So chapters 20 through 24, so that includes the one from Friday.

[00:07:56] Yeah.

[00:07:57] They offer further predictions regarding the fall of Jerusalem.

[00:08:01] So I think I said that on Friday as well.

[00:08:02] These are like a section unto themselves.

[00:08:05] Okay.

[00:08:05] And so we're in the middle of that now.

[00:08:07] Got it.

[00:08:08] Okay?

[00:08:08] Yeah.

[00:08:08] This particular chapter also includes a prophecy against the Ammonites.

[00:08:13] That's beside the point.

[00:08:15] This has been called the sword song or the prophecy of the sword.

[00:08:21] Oh.

[00:08:22] On account of its detailed mentions of the sword of the Lord.

[00:08:26] The sword of the Lord.

[00:08:27] We've talked about the sword of the Lord before.

[00:08:30] Mm-hmm.

[00:08:30] And I'm excited about this.

[00:08:32] Yeah, he's got a sword and he's going to poke you with it.

[00:08:35] Yeah.

[00:08:35] Yeah, he is.

[00:08:36] Do you remember that skit with...

[00:08:42] He's one of your favorite guys from SNL.

[00:08:44] Which guy from SNL?

[00:08:45] Guy that lives in his mom's basement.

[00:08:47] What the hell is his name?

[00:08:49] He dated lots of girls.

[00:08:51] Oh, Pete.

[00:08:53] Pete Davidson, yeah.

[00:08:55] Do you remember the skit where he was on...

[00:08:58] And he would go, okay.

[00:09:00] Yeah, yeah.

[00:09:01] And he had the sword and he was on a fantastical adventure

[00:09:06] or whatever.

[00:09:06] And he's like, okay.

[00:09:09] And the whole way.

[00:09:10] It was great.

[00:09:11] It was great.

[00:09:11] I'm sorry.

[00:09:12] I'll have to put a link in the show notes for that

[00:09:15] because I am doing it.

[00:09:16] No justice here.

[00:09:19] Here's the thing with Pete Davidson.

[00:09:20] Everybody either loves him or hates him.

[00:09:22] Sure, but that...

[00:09:24] Like whether you love him or hate him,

[00:09:25] that one definitely was like one of my favorites.

[00:09:27] So I'm just throwing that out there.

[00:09:29] I absolutely love him.

[00:09:31] I think he's hilarious because he's just my kind of person.

[00:09:35] And even though I am not the right age, like demographic,

[00:09:42] to be a person who adores Pete Davidson,

[00:09:46] I still do nonetheless.

[00:09:47] Right, right.

[00:09:48] But he's just the sword reminded me of that skit.

[00:09:50] So...

[00:09:51] OK.

[00:09:51] OK.

[00:09:52] Yeah.

[00:09:52] OK, ready?

[00:09:53] Yeah.

[00:09:54] The word of the Lord...

[00:09:54] OK.

[00:09:56] You're an idiot.

[00:09:58] The word of the Lord came to me.

[00:10:00] Did it?

[00:10:01] The way it does.

[00:10:02] Every fucking chapter, yeah.

[00:10:03] Son of man.

[00:10:04] Yeah, you're human.

[00:10:05] Yeah, fucking worm.

[00:10:06] Yeah.

[00:10:06] Set your face against Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuary.

[00:10:12] Prophecy against the land of Israel.

[00:10:15] And say to her...

[00:10:16] I mean, prophecy against your own land.

[00:10:19] Yeah.

[00:10:19] This is gross.

[00:10:20] Right.

[00:10:20] And say to her, this is what the Lord says.

[00:10:23] I'm against you.

[00:10:25] I wish you were against me.

[00:10:27] Oh yeah.

[00:10:28] I will draw my sword from its sheath

[00:10:32] and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.

[00:10:36] The righteous and the wicked.

[00:10:37] I'm going to cut you all up, good and bad, everything.

[00:10:39] Why?

[00:10:40] You know how you have cancer in one boob?

[00:10:42] I'm going to cut both of the boobs off,

[00:10:45] as well as your arms.

[00:10:47] I just don't understand the bringing

[00:10:50] judgment on the righteous.

[00:10:51] I'm killing all you.

[00:10:52] You're saying literally, even if you're good,

[00:10:54] I'm going to kill you.

[00:10:55] Yeah.

[00:10:55] OK.

[00:10:56] Yeah.

[00:10:56] All right.

[00:10:57] Because I am going to cut off the righteous and the wicked,

[00:10:59] my sword will be unsheathed against everyone

[00:11:03] from south to north.

[00:11:05] OK.

[00:11:05] Kill all of you.

[00:11:06] Just kill y'all.

[00:11:06] I just love murder.

[00:11:08] Right.

[00:11:08] Remember?

[00:11:09] Yeah.

[00:11:09] I'm the murdery guy.

[00:11:10] Well, how could we forget?

[00:11:11] It's literally in every chapter.

[00:11:12] Fear the Lord.

[00:11:13] Like all the fucking time.

[00:11:14] Then all people will know that I, the Lord,

[00:11:17] have drawn my sword from its sheath.

[00:11:20] I guess so.

[00:11:21] It will not return again.

[00:11:23] I'm not putting this sword away.

[00:11:24] I'm just going to keep on.

[00:11:25] I might shove it in a stone so that Arthur

[00:11:27] could come pull it out.

[00:11:29] Yeah.

[00:11:29] You think so?

[00:11:30] That will be fun.

[00:11:30] Yeah.

[00:11:31] Therefore, groan, son of man.

[00:11:34] Grown before them with broken heart and bitter grief.

[00:11:38] And when they ask you, why are you groaning?

[00:11:42] You shall say, because of the news that's coming,

[00:11:46] every heart will melt with fear and every hand go limp.

[00:11:51] I mean, how could I read all this and not feel like it's

[00:11:54] just a big dick metaphor?

[00:11:56] Right.

[00:11:56] Well, I mean, I'm, it is.

[00:11:58] Right?

[00:11:59] I mean, essentially, like most of the shit in here is

[00:12:02] definitely male oriented references for sure.

[00:12:07] Yeah.

[00:12:08] So well, regardless if it's actual dick reference

[00:12:11] or just like the masculinity of maleness.

[00:12:13] He's he's sheathing his sword so that you go limp.

[00:12:18] Right.

[00:12:19] OK.

[00:12:19] Every spirit will become faint and every leg

[00:12:23] will be wet with urine.

[00:12:26] You're going to pee yourself.

[00:12:28] OK.

[00:12:29] Yeah.

[00:12:29] Your leg, you know why it's wet?

[00:12:31] Because of his massive sword.

[00:12:33] Because you peed on it.

[00:12:34] Yeah.

[00:12:36] It is coming.

[00:12:37] Oh yeah, it is.

[00:12:40] I'm sorry.

[00:12:41] I'm such a child.

[00:12:43] It will surely take place declares the sovereign Lord.

[00:12:46] Yeah.

[00:12:47] The word of the Lord came to me again.

[00:12:50] Again, it came to you.

[00:12:51] OK.

[00:12:52] Son of man.

[00:12:53] The mere human.

[00:12:54] You fucking worm.

[00:12:55] Yeah.

[00:12:55] Prophecy and say this is what the Lord says.

[00:12:58] A sword, a sword sharpened and polished.

[00:13:01] Sharpen for the slaughter.

[00:13:03] Polished to flash like lightning.

[00:13:07] Yeah.

[00:13:08] I'm going to get you.

[00:13:10] Shall we rejoice in the scepter of my royal son?

[00:13:14] The sword despises every such stick.

[00:13:19] What?

[00:13:20] My sword.

[00:13:21] The sword despises every such stick.

[00:13:24] I don't understand the reference there exactly.

[00:13:26] Your swords suck compared to mine?

[00:13:28] I guess.

[00:13:29] I really don't know.

[00:13:30] That's a weird sentence.

[00:13:33] That's a weird sentence.

[00:13:34] It is.

[00:13:35] OK.

[00:13:35] The sword is appointed to be polished,

[00:13:38] to be grasped with the hand.

[00:13:40] It is sharpened and polished made ready

[00:13:42] for the hand of the slayer.

[00:13:45] Song of the sword, right?

[00:13:46] Sure, yeah.

[00:13:47] I love my sword.

[00:13:48] I'm going to polish that shit so.

[00:13:50] You're going to grasp it real hard.

[00:13:51] I'm going to shine it up and down.

[00:13:53] Up and down.

[00:13:54] Did you ever?

[00:13:55] Back and forth.

[00:13:55] There's a video of this preacher at some.

[00:14:00] I don't even know.

[00:14:01] It's just like a meme I saw basically,

[00:14:03] but like this preacher pulls out like a fucking sword

[00:14:07] or a rod or something.

[00:14:09] And he's literally it's probably he's probably referencing

[00:14:12] this actual chapter when he's talking about this based

[00:14:16] on what I remember seeing.

[00:14:18] But he literally starts stroking the fucking sword

[00:14:20] on stage in front of everybody.

[00:14:22] And it looks like he's fucking jacking off the fucking sword.

[00:14:26] Because I'm like, what are you doing?

[00:14:28] I'm polishing my rod.

[00:14:29] What? I mean, yeah, but like that's exactly

[00:14:31] what they're describing here.

[00:14:32] I'm like, oh my God.

[00:14:33] Yep.

[00:14:34] Cry out and wail, son of man.

[00:14:37] Yeah, that big sword is going to get you.

[00:14:40] Oh, for it is against my people.

[00:14:42] Yeah, it is.

[00:14:44] Yeah, it is against all the princes of Israel.

[00:14:48] They are thrown to the sword along with my people.

[00:14:51] Therefore beat your breast.

[00:14:54] Yeah, do it.

[00:14:55] Yeah, testing will surely come.

[00:14:58] And what if even the scepter which the sword despises

[00:15:01] does not continue declares the sovereign?

[00:15:04] What if even the scepter that the sword despises

[00:15:06] does not continue?

[00:15:08] I think it's talking about like royalty,

[00:15:10] like royalty is going to come to an end.

[00:15:11] All right, all right.

[00:15:13] So then, son of man, prophecy and straight

[00:15:16] your hands together.

[00:15:17] OK, OK, clap.

[00:15:19] I guess.

[00:15:20] I don't know.

[00:15:21] Let the sword strike twice.

[00:15:23] Twice.

[00:15:24] Even three times.

[00:15:25] Oh, OK.

[00:15:26] It's a sword for slaughter.

[00:15:27] A sword for great slaughter, closing in on them

[00:15:30] from every side.

[00:15:32] I mean, OK, one, yeah, it's a sword that specifically

[00:15:36] for slaughter.

[00:15:36] Yes.

[00:15:37] It's not meant for cooking steak.

[00:15:39] Right.

[00:15:40] It's not meant for getting dressed.

[00:15:42] Right.

[00:15:43] It's not meant for painting your fingernails.

[00:15:45] No, no.

[00:15:46] Swords are meant for slaughter.

[00:15:47] Yours is no different.

[00:15:49] Yeah, yeah.

[00:15:50] You like to kill, you have a tool for killing.

[00:15:52] Yeah.

[00:15:53] Right?

[00:15:53] Yeah.

[00:15:54] OK, just making sure we're on the same page here.

[00:15:57] Right.

[00:15:57] I mean, the weapons are weapony.

[00:16:00] Look, I mean, we've been joking a lot through this episode

[00:16:02] because the references just kind of ring true

[00:16:05] for phallic references and what have you.

[00:16:08] So but the truth is that this is still a gross.

[00:16:13] Yeah.

[00:16:14] You know, just symbolism for murdering

[00:16:17] tons of people.

[00:16:18] I like to murder, fear the Lord.

[00:16:20] Yeah.

[00:16:20] And it's this is just disgusting.

[00:16:23] Like the fact that they view religious practices

[00:16:27] as a reason to murder people.

[00:16:30] And this is this is let's not kid ourselves.

[00:16:32] That's what's happening here.

[00:16:34] Right.

[00:16:34] If you don't do these specific religious practices,

[00:16:37] you deserve to die.

[00:16:38] Yeah.

[00:16:38] That that is exact.

[00:16:39] Perfect.

[00:16:40] And it's sickening because these and I know,

[00:16:45] I know, I know, I say this all the time

[00:16:47] but these same ideas are are percolating back into society.

[00:16:52] Mm hmm.

[00:16:52] And it's just not good.

[00:16:56] It's very not good.

[00:16:57] And I'm not this is this is part of the reason

[00:16:59] why we wanted to read this book because we wanted

[00:17:01] to understand where these disgusting ideas are coming from.

[00:17:04] And then here it is.

[00:17:05] This is right.

[00:17:06] These are the disgusting ideas.

[00:17:07] I love my sword really because Americans love their guns.

[00:17:12] Right.

[00:17:12] Yeah, it's almost a direct correlation

[00:17:15] between this and guns.

[00:17:16] Swords, guns, whatever.

[00:17:18] We all like to kill everybody.

[00:17:19] Not only that.

[00:17:20] Yeah.

[00:17:20] But yeah.

[00:17:20] And specifically the the idea that you have the right

[00:17:25] and and moral stance to murder people or duty

[00:17:30] for not obeying God.

[00:17:33] Right.

[00:17:33] Right.

[00:17:34] Whatever that obeying is to you

[00:17:37] for any one person who possesses a weapon that day.

[00:17:40] Yeah.

[00:17:41] Yeah.

[00:17:42] So their hearts may melt with fear

[00:17:44] and the fallen be many.

[00:17:46] I have stationed the sword for slaughter at all their gates.

[00:17:50] Look, it is forged to strike like lightning.

[00:17:53] It is grasped for slaughter.

[00:17:56] I see.

[00:17:57] Slotter, slaughter, slaughter, slaughter, slaughter, kill, kill.

[00:18:00] Yeah.

[00:18:01] OK.

[00:18:01] Yeah.

[00:18:01] Making sure you understand it.

[00:18:03] Right.

[00:18:03] If I say it often enough, then then.

[00:18:07] I mean, I think he has said it often enough.

[00:18:10] Me too.

[00:18:10] I'm going to just say that right now

[00:18:12] that he has said it often enough.

[00:18:13] This part's fun.

[00:18:14] We're going to do the hokey pokey.

[00:18:15] Ready?

[00:18:16] Are we going to turn ourselves around?

[00:18:17] Slash to the right, you sword.

[00:18:19] Then slash to the left wherever your blade is turned.

[00:18:23] Ah.

[00:18:23] You know.

[00:18:24] Yeah.

[00:18:24] To the right, to the left.

[00:18:25] Yeah.

[00:18:26] Yeah.

[00:18:26] Right.

[00:18:26] I too will strike my hands together and my wrath

[00:18:29] will subside.

[00:18:30] I, the Lord have spoken.

[00:18:32] Hmm.

[00:18:32] It will subside, huh?

[00:18:34] The word of the Lord came to me.

[00:18:36] Wait, this is still the same chapter, right?

[00:18:38] Where he's the word of the Lord has come to

[00:18:41] as he feel like three fucking times in this chapter.

[00:18:43] The third time now, yeah.

[00:18:44] We have to keep mentioning that it's like we can't just

[00:18:46] forget it.

[00:18:46] We can't just continue the story.

[00:18:48] These are separate instances apparently

[00:18:50] that the word has come to him.

[00:18:51] Never forget.

[00:18:52] OK.

[00:18:53] It's always the Lord.

[00:18:54] Yeah.

[00:18:55] Son of man.

[00:18:56] Yeah, mere human.

[00:18:57] Yeah, fucking worm.

[00:18:58] Mark out two rows for the sword of the King of Babylon

[00:19:02] to take both starting from the same country.

[00:19:05] So we're doing more play acting dollhouse.

[00:19:07] OK.

[00:19:08] OK.

[00:19:08] Yeah.

[00:19:09] Make a signpost where the road branches off to the city.

[00:19:13] Mark out one road for the sword to come against

[00:19:15] Raba the Ammonites and another against Judah

[00:19:19] and fortified Jerusalem.

[00:19:21] For the King of Babylon will stop at the fork in the road

[00:19:25] at the junction of the two roads to seek an omen.

[00:19:28] He will cast lots with arrows.

[00:19:30] He will consult his idols.

[00:19:32] Hold on.

[00:19:32] He will examine the liver.

[00:19:35] Wait, wait, wait, wait.

[00:19:36] Who's going to cast lots and consult idols?

[00:19:38] The King of Babylon.

[00:19:40] Oh, OK.

[00:19:40] He's saying the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, I think.

[00:19:45] Sure.

[00:19:45] He's going to come walking down his little path.

[00:19:48] He's going to reach across roads.

[00:19:50] Yeah.

[00:19:50] And he's going to have to stop and think, hmm.

[00:19:52] Which way am I going?

[00:19:53] Do I want to go kill the Ammonites today

[00:19:55] or do I want to attack Jerusalem today?

[00:19:57] Right, right.

[00:19:58] Let me throw the bones or whatever and decide.

[00:20:01] Got it.

[00:20:01] So he's going to do three things.

[00:20:03] He's going to cast his lots.

[00:20:05] He's going to write the name of each city on one

[00:20:07] of the arrows and then toss them.

[00:20:08] OK, all right.

[00:20:09] Then he's going to consult his idols.

[00:20:13] So he's going to pray or whatever.

[00:20:15] Yeah.

[00:20:15] And he's going to examine the liver.

[00:20:18] OK.

[00:20:18] So he's going to kill the Ammonites.

[00:20:20] Yeah, this is, yeah, OK.

[00:20:21] And he's going to look at the liver.

[00:20:23] Yeah.

[00:20:24] So I actually have a little bit of note about that.

[00:20:26] OK.

[00:20:27] Let me scroll down my notes.

[00:20:29] Here we go.

[00:20:30] There's a thing called Hepatoscopy,

[00:20:34] which is divination based on the analysis of sheep livers.

[00:20:38] And it was widespread in the ancient Near East.

[00:20:41] Yeah, OK.

[00:20:41] So there's a word for it.

[00:20:44] Got it.

[00:20:44] For killing an animal and then looking at its liver

[00:20:47] to get clues.

[00:20:48] It's like getting a palm reading only way more disgusting.

[00:20:50] Right.

[00:20:51] Or reading tea leaves.

[00:20:53] Right.

[00:20:53] Except killing an animal.

[00:20:54] To do so.

[00:20:55] Yeah.

[00:20:56] Right.

[00:20:56] Putting the liver in the teacup.

[00:20:58] Yeah.

[00:20:59] Into his right hand will come the lot for Jerusalem

[00:21:02] where he is to set up battering rams,

[00:21:05] to give the command to slaughter, to sound the battle cry,

[00:21:08] to set battering rams against the gates,

[00:21:10] to build a ramp and to erect siege works.

[00:21:14] It will seem like a false omen to those who

[00:21:16] have sworn allegiance to him, but he will remind them

[00:21:19] of their guilt and take them captive.

[00:21:22] OK.

[00:21:22] So it's just basically saying, yeah, he's

[00:21:24] going to choose Jerusalem and get you guys.

[00:21:27] I got it.

[00:21:29] Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says.

[00:21:31] Because you people have brought to mind your guilt

[00:21:34] by your open rebellion, revealing your sins in all

[00:21:39] that you do, because you have done this,

[00:21:42] you will be taken captive.

[00:21:44] You profane and wicked Prince of Israel, whose day has come,

[00:21:49] whose time of punishment has reached its climax.

[00:21:52] Just to reiterate the Prince of Judah at this point

[00:21:57] is Zedekiah.

[00:21:58] King Zedekiah.

[00:21:59] The king Zedekiah.

[00:22:00] Right.

[00:22:00] But they always refer to him as the Prince.

[00:22:02] In this book, in this book.

[00:22:04] Because since he was placed there by the Babylonian king,

[00:22:10] they say that he's not the true king.

[00:22:12] Right, which strikes me a little bit in so far as like,

[00:22:16] Ezekiel is either playing a political game here too,

[00:22:22] like by writing down that he is a prince,

[00:22:25] or at the very least this was edited by the Babylonians

[00:22:29] or something.

[00:22:30] Something happened to make that wording change

[00:22:34] to where he's not a king versus he's a prince.

[00:22:36] Let's not forget that Ezekiel is in Babylon.

[00:22:40] Right, no I don't.

[00:22:41] So that's how the Jews in Babylon would refer to him.

[00:22:45] Right, right.

[00:22:46] Because they're not in Jerusalem.

[00:22:48] So they're like, that is not the king.

[00:22:52] What the fuck's going on down there?

[00:22:54] OK, all right.

[00:22:55] Fair enough, fair enough.

[00:22:56] They're like the last we knew, I think Joachim.

[00:23:00] Joachim or whatever, yeah.

[00:23:02] Was the king and they're like, that's the king.

[00:23:05] This is just a little fucking play prince.

[00:23:07] Got it, OK.

[00:23:08] So just wanted you to kind of have that perspective

[00:23:12] that they're not right there where it's happening,

[00:23:14] they're actually in captivity.

[00:23:17] But again, he's saying the words of the Lord

[00:23:20] and you would think that the Lord would be able to get

[00:23:22] that wording correct between Jeremiah and Ezekiel, right?

[00:23:26] But it's not, it's different.

[00:23:28] Right, because it's not God, it's two different dudes

[00:23:31] playing two different political games.

[00:23:32] Yeah, because these are literally the words of God, right?

[00:23:34] Whereas the words of God when Jeremiah said them said king.

[00:23:38] Yeah.

[00:23:38] So I mean, there is no correlation

[00:23:41] between how God is talking to one prophet to the other

[00:23:45] at the same exact time, which to me debunks

[00:23:47] the whole fucking thing anyway.

[00:23:49] Yeah.

[00:23:49] Like right there, that alone is just stupid.

[00:23:52] Yeah.

[00:23:52] So God is the one talking to you?

[00:23:54] No, bullshit.

[00:23:56] You're talking to your fucking self.

[00:23:57] Yeah, yeah.

[00:23:58] Yeah, these two dudes were playing different games

[00:24:01] in different cities.

[00:24:02] Yeah.

[00:24:02] And their words did not match.

[00:24:05] Right, they matched enough to put in the Bible.

[00:24:07] But it didn't match enough to actually make logical sense.

[00:24:11] Right, right.

[00:24:12] This is what the sovereign Lord says,

[00:24:14] take off the turban, remove the crown.

[00:24:17] It will not be as it was.

[00:24:19] The lowly will be exalted

[00:24:21] and the exalted will be brought low.

[00:24:24] A ruin, a ruin.

[00:24:25] I will make it a ruin.

[00:24:28] The crowd will not be restored

[00:24:30] until he to whom it rightfully belongs shall come.

[00:24:33] To him, I will give it.

[00:24:36] OK.

[00:24:36] And that's either Jesus if you're a Christian,

[00:24:41] hypothetically, or Zombie David line of people

[00:24:46] if you're Jewish maybe, or just some random person

[00:24:49] at some point.

[00:24:50] Well actually it was Cyrus at 1.2.

[00:24:52] Yeah.

[00:24:52] Because like he was considered that savior of Judaism

[00:24:55] or whatever too.

[00:24:56] Yeah, it just depends.

[00:24:57] Yeah, it depends on who you're asking

[00:24:58] and what time frame it is and whatever.

[00:25:00] Yep.

[00:25:01] Somebody yet to come that we don't know.

[00:25:02] Somebody yet to come, yeah, sure.

[00:25:05] All right, now we're moving to that Ammonite section.

[00:25:07] OK.

[00:25:08] Yeah.

[00:25:08] So we're off that now.

[00:25:10] Got it.

[00:25:10] Yeah.

[00:25:11] And you, son of man.

[00:25:14] Yeah, me are human.

[00:25:15] You fucking worm.

[00:25:16] Prophecy and say this is what the sovereign Lord says

[00:25:20] about the Ammonites and their insults.

[00:25:23] A sword, a sword drawn for the slaughter,

[00:25:25] polished to consume and to flash like lightning.

[00:25:29] OK.

[00:25:29] OK.

[00:25:30] Yeah, he's going to kill Ammonites now.

[00:25:32] We love killing people.

[00:25:34] Despite fault visions concerning you

[00:25:36] and lying divinations about you, it

[00:25:38] will be laid on the necks of the wicked who

[00:25:41] are to be slain, whose day has come,

[00:25:43] whose time of punishment has reached its climax.

[00:25:47] I'm not really sure why we, in the Bible,

[00:25:50] right here when we're talking about God's judgment,

[00:25:53] care about the destruction of the Ammonites, right?

[00:25:56] Same.

[00:25:56] Yeah.

[00:25:57] Because ideally, hypothetically,

[00:26:00] we already destroyed them earlier in the Bible.

[00:26:03] And moreover, it's not really relevant

[00:26:07] because it's not the Jewish people that

[00:26:09] are destroying the Ammonites.

[00:26:10] It's God through Babylon and therefore,

[00:26:14] highly irrelevant to the whole story.

[00:26:17] The only the only thing that I can kind of draw from it

[00:26:21] is this particular book of the Bible

[00:26:24] has been very interested in how the Jews of that time

[00:26:32] came into being.

[00:26:34] So they talked about their early Ammonite and Midianite,

[00:26:38] all of that, from the Canaanites, right?

[00:26:41] Yeah.

[00:26:42] He talked about that a couple of chapters ago

[00:26:45] about how they came into being as the people they are today.

[00:26:49] Right.

[00:26:50] And so it strikes me that he's like, I'm going to kill your mama.

[00:26:54] OK.

[00:26:55] All right.

[00:26:55] Maybe there's some, because he did refer to them as,

[00:26:59] you know, your father was, I forget what team,

[00:27:03] and your mother was the Ammonites.

[00:27:05] Yeah.

[00:27:05] And so now he's basically saying, I'm going to kill you.

[00:27:08] I'm going to kill your mama.

[00:27:10] I guess.

[00:27:10] I guess.

[00:27:11] I'm just putting it out there that maybe

[00:27:13] that's where he's going.

[00:27:15] I just feel like this is an unneeded portion in the Bible

[00:27:18] not so long.

[00:27:18] Totally agree.

[00:27:19] Totally agree.

[00:27:19] I'm stretching to try to find any kind of literary reason for it.

[00:27:24] Yeah.

[00:27:25] And that's the only thing I could come up with.

[00:27:27] Sure.

[00:27:27] But on the face, yeah, I totally agree with you.

[00:27:29] Right.

[00:27:30] Let the sword return to its sheath.

[00:27:33] I thought it wasn't going back in its sheath.

[00:27:34] He said that at one point.

[00:27:36] In the place where you were created,

[00:27:38] in the land of your ancestry, I will judge you.

[00:27:41] All right.

[00:27:41] OK.

[00:27:42] Oh, damn.

[00:27:42] All right.

[00:27:43] I had to read two more sentences.

[00:27:44] Yeah.

[00:27:45] I will pour out my wrath on you and breathe out

[00:27:47] my fiery anger against you.

[00:27:50] I will deliver you into the hands of brutal men,

[00:27:53] men skilled in destruction.

[00:27:56] You will be fueled for the fire.

[00:27:58] Your blood will be shed in your land.

[00:28:01] You will be remembered no more for I, the Lord, have spoken.

[00:28:04] Guess what happened?

[00:28:05] We still remember them.

[00:28:06] We still remember them.

[00:28:07] The end.

[00:28:08] They're right there.

[00:28:08] We're talking about them today in 2024.

[00:28:11] Yeah.

[00:28:11] So I guess that didn't work out.

[00:28:13] So well for God.

[00:28:14] We still remember them because you shit wrote that down.

[00:28:16] Right, yeah.

[00:28:17] If you wanted to forget them, you shouldn't have written it down.

[00:28:20] You should have not written it down.

[00:28:22] Yeah.

[00:28:23] Yeah.

[00:28:23] So I guess that didn't that didn't work out so well.

[00:28:26] Nope.

[00:28:26] Nope.

[00:28:27] All right.

[00:28:27] Do you remember the Ammonites?

[00:28:29] I do actually.

[00:28:30] Me too.

[00:28:31] Yeah.

[00:28:31] Me too.

[00:28:32] I just heard about them just now.
