Hosea Chapters 6 - 10 Q&A: Bible Study by Atheists

Q&A: Hosea Chapters 6-10

Hey there, fellow skeptics and Bible enthusiasts! In this special mid-week episode of Sacrilegious Discourse, Husband and Wife tackle your burning questions about Hosea Chapters 6 through 10. We know we've been a bit off schedule, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate life's unexpected turns. But fear not, we're here to deliver the goods on these biblical chapters.

We kick off by addressing the insincerity of Israel's repentance in Chapter 6, where their half-hearted return to God is put under the microscope. The chapter is filled with poetic imagery and divine complaints about Israel and Judah's persistent wickedness.

Highlights include:

1. The Insincere Repentance: Israel's lip service to God is likened to a fleeting morning mist, showcasing their lack of genuine commitment.

2. Political Chaos: The tumultuous period marked by assassinations and power struggles among Israel's kings is revisited, shedding light on the political intrigue of the time.

3. The Half-Baked Cake: Ephraim is compared to an unturned pancake, symbolizing their incomplete and misguided attempts to serve both God and idols.

4. Divine Judgment: Hosea's prophecies continue with vivid threats of destruction and exile, emphasizing the brutal consequences of Israel's sins.

5. The Silly Dove: Ephraim is described as a senseless dove, easily deceived and constantly shifting allegiances between Egypt and Assyria, leading to their downfall.

As always, we delve into the absurdities and contradictions of these ancient texts, drawing modern parallels and questioning age-old beliefs. Whether you're here for the theological critique or just some laughs, this episode has something for everyone.

[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Sacrilegious Discourse.

[00:00:01] [SPEAKER_02]: For this is what the Sovereign Lord says!

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Why do you need prophets to tell people who you are and what you want?

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_02]: If you can justify everything that the God of the Bible has done,

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_02]: then you can justify any of your behavior.

[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of this mentality is trickling into

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_01]: what is now mainstream right wing Christianity.

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I am capable of empathy greater than this God of the Bible.

[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_00]: This is a Bible that they tell kids this is the good Lord,

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_00]: this is the good book.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_00]: He is fantasizing about murder, mass murder.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Head over to sacrilegiousdiscourse.com right now to find out how to leave us a review

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: or support us on Patreon.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Husband!

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Wife!

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Guess what we're doing?

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_02]: We are doing our Q&A, not on Saturday, some day of the week.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so today is, this will be really seen on Wednesday.

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Wednesday morning.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so we kind of got screwed up again and we do apologize.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I know we've been doing that a lot.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: We have.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know what to say other than wife and I have been discussing some options

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_01]: as to what we are going to do going forward.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Rather than keep being behind, let's just go ahead and plan for it.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Right, and we'll be talking about some of those in the coming days.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But in the meantime, we're gonna kind of slow roll this week to end it

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and there'll be a special episode, there'll be our weekly wrap up still coming out for this portion.

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But we'll get back to something resembling normal next week.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_02]: It'll just be a slightly slower pace.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Slightly.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, slightly.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_01]: One less episode.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Just to give us some buffer to work with some things

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and we'll explain it all on an upcoming special episode that we have coming out.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just with your work schedule and my injury and medications.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_02]: We're not really jiving as far as what we can get done.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Not with our schedule, yeah.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Our schedule is definitely throwing us for a loop right now.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, we really enjoy doing this.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to lose our steam with regard to...

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_02]: No, not at all.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: ...doing our podcast.

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're trying to work around ourselves.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And in that vein, we are ready today to do the Q&A

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and you got some good questions and answers and things to go over.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're going to be covering chapters Hosea,

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Hosehead, chapters 6 through 10.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's do this.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Okie dokie.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: All right, so we are covering Hosehead, chapters 6 through 11.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: 10.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_02]: 10.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I said.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_02]: 6 through 10.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Like literally just said that.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know where the 11 came from.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to go through each chapter and say a little something, something about it.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Sounds good.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do this.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's start with chapter 6.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Which was basically about the insincerity of Israel's repentance.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_02]: If you'll recall, it was basically like they are paying lip service to God,

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_02]: the Israelites are.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And they may come to him to God but it's like half-ass.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Which seemed like pretty much every chapter we read.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, ok.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: This chapter contains prophecies including an exhortation to repentance

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: and a complaint against Israel and Judah for persisting in their wickedness still.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So the first part of that chapter continues the passage that started in the previous chapter

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_02]: or that, yeah, that started in the previous chapter.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Like mid-sentence event.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this book has been bad for that.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Super weird.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And that whole thing, that verse that was basically cut in half, concerns the time of the Syrian

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Ephraimite War.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So the Syrians and the Ephraim.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Ok.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was about 735 to 733 BCE.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it the Syrians or the Syrians?

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Syrians.

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Ok.

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's talking about the war and its aftermath.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So basically we're starting at 735 and going through about 731 BCE.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So I went ahead and put the last verse of chapter 5 since again we're starting mid-sentence.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And we're supposed to be covering chapter 6 here.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So the final verse, well actually I started with one verse back even because it captured

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_02]: the idea so anyway.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Chapter 5 verses 8 and 9.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Sounds the trumpet in Gbiah.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_02]: The horn in Rama.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Raise the battle cry in Beth Avon.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Lead on Benjamin.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Ephraim will be laid waste on the day of Reckoning.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Ok?

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So whereas in chapter 5, Hosea states divine judgment on both Judah and Israel in their

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_02]: strife.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Like they're on and off again wars.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Such that God will send sickness into death.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Unto death.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Sickness unto death.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Got it.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's a phrase that we use today.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I am sick unto death of this.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't know if you've heard that.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we've shortened it to sick of death.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Sick to death of this.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Sick to death yes but I have heard people say I am sick unto death of this.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that common is the sick to death right?

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Like that would be it.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what it turned into.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a common common.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So anyway in verses 1 through 3 of chapter 6, God proclaims the hope of revival if

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: the people are willing to accept his exhortation to repentance which we know they do not

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_02]: ever.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So verse 1 says come let us return to the Lord.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: He has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And then verse 2 says after two days he will revive us and on the third day he will restore

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_02]: us that we may live in his presence.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: We talked at the time how this sounded very Jesusy.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_02]: It does.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's because it was borrowed from or.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You mean the New Testament borrowed from this?

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say this was written too old to be borrowed from the New Testament.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: The New Testament in trying to backfill prophecies they were like ooh that's a good end.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's put some Jesus in that.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So that was acknowledged in some notes.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And then verse 3 let us acknowledge the Lord.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Let us press on to acknowledge him as surely as the sun rises he will appear.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And that too, even though it's the sun as in the sun.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_02]: S-O-N versus S-U-N.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Right, right.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the sun in the sky versus the male child.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_01]: In our terminology today.

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that was relevant in the original language or anything like that.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's interesting because of like it's similar to the same verbiage you'll see

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_01]: on church signs now.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You know?

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Like they equate sun to sun.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Sun shines and the Lord reigns is the one that I, it comes to mind.

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a church on some road that I used to pass just every single time I would drive

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: over to my best friend's house.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And every day it said that out front.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_02]: They never changed the sign.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So that reminds me in that movie, I want to say it was called Zeitgeist or something.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Which, you know, it's a questionable.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Very questionable conspiracy theory, all kinds of stuff.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_02]: But one of our...

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_01]: At the time it was fun-ish.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Like now it's like, oh.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Because all of that stuff kind of led straight into Q and non-territorial.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it was interesting like there was the same ideas.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it had ideas about, there were conspiracy theories about like money and gods and then

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: like 9-11.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It was just like all kinds of...

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It was all over the place.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: It was all over the place.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And I would say that the first two thirds of the movie were actually really interesting,

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: fascinating, just the way Christian Christianity borrowed from prior religions and practices

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and stuff.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_01]: They really lost this when it got to 9-11.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_02]: The last third of it was like, okay I'm out.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: But the part that specifically reminded me of that movie is the comparison of the word

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_02]: son, S-U-N versus S-O-N.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Male child versus star in the sky.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_02]: That was discussed heavily in that movie.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember if they discussed the original language though.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Because that, again, it was a movie that was very conspiracy theory written.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't recall if that was actually a thing or not.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to say that probably they did not get into the original language which would render

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_02]: those not homophones.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go with no.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I said in today's context it's very...

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting to me in that context.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I totally agree.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: That's right.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And then it continues, he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_02]: water the earth.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Now that is also in a different translation.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't say the winter rains or the spring rains.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It says he will come to us like the rain, like the ladder and former rain.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So two things.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: First of all, those three verses that I just read.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_02]: It has been suggested that it's a penitential prayer that may have been borrowed from an

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_02]: atonement ritual.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So do you need me to reread those?

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Come, let us return to the Lord.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_02]: He has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_02]: After two days he will revive us and on the third day he will restore us that

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: we may live in his presence.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Let us acknowledge the Lord.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Let us press on to acknowledge him as surely as the sun rises he will appear.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_02]: He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Sure.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's a atonement ritual apparently.

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Got it.

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Now with the thing that I said was two different interpretations depending on what translation

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_02]: you're reading.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: The ladder and the former rain.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_02]: In Israel the only way crops were watered was by rain of course.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_02]: And the first or the former was in the autumn to prepare the earth for seed and the second

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: rain or ladder rain which you know like I said the verses like the ladder and former

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_02]: rain.

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_02]: In spring is when the ladder one is to prepare the land for harvest.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Got it.

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So this section contains some oracles about Israel's political and religious corruption

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_02]: because Israel failed to live according to Yahweh's demand for steadfast love and knowledge

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_02]: of him.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to say this again and I know I hit on this a lot but the fact that it's even

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: in the Apologist takes that you're reading and things like that, the fact that they

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: mentioned politics is part of that.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just very obvious that these things that we talk about in the Bible are definitely

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: things that are political.

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not because if we're talking about all the people of Israel there's no way to talk

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: about them all.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about the political and power structures that are prevalent in that

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: society at that time because there's nothing else that would really matter.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: You're not talking about Joe Schmoe next door.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You're talking about the people in charge of your lives and they're the ones that are

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: responsible for making these ideas and these laws and rules in which people don't like

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_01]: or don't follow correctly or don't whatever.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're really complaining about the power.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We're complaining about who's in charge.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's partly what bothers me with regard to how the Bible is worded because

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: when we're talking about a God who supposedly knows everything, everybody and how it's all

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_01]: going to work out, right?

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a problem with him punishing the people down line when we're really talking about the

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: people that are at the top.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like in today's society if we were to take the actions of the 1% and then

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: punish everybody else for their actions.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It's bullshit.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It is bullshit.

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure if God were real we would all be like, what the fuck man?

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like this is some crap.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, not only that it's lazy.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: It's tantamount to the teacher comes in, one or two kids are making noise rather than

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_02]: A, finding out who it is or B, I know who it is but I don't want to call them out.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take the lazy way and make the whole class write sentences.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So everybody across the board is punished.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And I fucking hate that shit.

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I used to sit out in the hall so much because I would argue, like but I wasn't talking

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_02]: and I sit up front and you see me.

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's just it right?

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you're a God if you can't punish people individually.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You're no God that's worth a damn.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You're fucking worthless.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And therefore pointless and you know, you and I know slash believe whatever that

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: God is not real.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And for all intents and purposes, God isn't real.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: There is no proof.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_01]: There is no even like hint at proof of God.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just the Bible.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just people's belief in this entity.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And happy feelings.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's not forget that.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And coincidences that are framed as miracles.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And toast.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget the toast.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: The toast is a big one.

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But it just, it doesn't sit well with me the whole thing.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: No, it doesn't mean either.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So going on to verse four, the second half of that verse says your love is like the morning

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: mist like the early do that disappears.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You remember me going, ha ha ha do do.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: God sees that the people's promise to return to him is nothing but words.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Their hearts have not changed.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: They have no covenant loyalty towards God.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_02]: And they have no love for him and they have no desire to know him.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And as long as they are without these qualities, all their sacrifices and offerings are useless.

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: So they're just going through the motions given lip service.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And God is so all knowing as we just discussed how all knowing he is there's me rolling

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_02]: my eyes.

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a slash sarcasm.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_02]: He knows that, that they're being fake.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how he knows that but not the other stuff.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't know that there is that that's this is the way.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: This is more, you know, again, we're talking about people in society and we're talking

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: about somebody who is judging their society.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So he's saying I don't like my neighbors in the way they're acting.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So this is what I think of them and this is what God's going to do to them.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: All this is.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean basically it's the same thing as in colonial England when colonial England

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_02]: colonial North, what am I trying to say?

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_02]: New England, colonial New England.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_02]: The Salem witch trial stuff.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the same concept like I don't like my neighbor.

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like they're being freaky do so I'm going to say they're a witch.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's it's fear.

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It's it's you know, it's just it's not you're just being a fearful busy body is

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_01]: what you're doing.

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Just mind your business.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, Tim Wall says, you know, mind your business.

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry about it.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So moving on to verse seven, it says as at Adam, they have broken the

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_02]: covenant.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_02]: They were unfaithful to me there, but they like Adam have transgressed

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_02]: the covenant.

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So this is making a comparison to early days.

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Back in Genesis.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Because Adam in paradise.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Transgressed to the commandment and God cast him out of the garden.

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel in possession of the promised land transgressed God's covenant

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and God has cast them out and sent them into captivity.

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I do find it interesting that he, Hosea in these books has mentioned

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Adam and referred to Israel as he.

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_01]: There is a distinction here in this book in my mind with regard

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: to how it is mentioned versus every other book we've read where

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: everything is female and Eve is the problem.

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like that that is that is a distinction to me with

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: regard to.

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_02]: That is true.

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And we pointed out the calling Israel he and him.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_02]: We did call that out, but I hadn't put that together with referring

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_02]: to Adam as the problem and not Eve.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_02]: No, that's.

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_02]: That's really interesting.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's a weird place to find him bringing in some equality

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_02]: stuff because it doesn't really fit.

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But it might not even be equality, right?

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Like this might be Hosea being like, well women don't have

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_01]: any responsibility at all.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So they couldn't have been responsible.

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_02]: They're so stupid.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You can't blame those stupid cows.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they're just couches.

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: They're just tables.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's kind of how I would see him.

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't be there to know Hosea's mind, you know, but it was

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_02]: less.

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's bring.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's say it was Adam that did it like everybody's always

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_02]: blaming Eve.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's say Adam did it.

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It was less that than it was a further insult to women.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's also interesting that this book has written a longer

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: time ago than a lot of the books that we're reading.

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_02]: That is true.

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So the idea could have evolved over time.

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And since this is one of the older books, maybe the original

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_01]: idea was that Adam was the sinful one and not Eve.

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_01]: That is eventually the men were like, fuck you make the

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_01]: woman the one.

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_02]: You know the woman are.

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_02]: She's a dumb bitch incapable of doing anything because she's

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_02]: so disgusting and nasty, but also at the same time

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_02]: that she's a stupid moron.

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_02]: She's also a maniacal, conniving, smartest everything and is

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_02]: able to work against you.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, kind of like Trump thinks of the Democrats.

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We're both.

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We're the worst and dumbest and incapable list people on

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: the planet, but yet we do all the evil things and we

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: are plotting against the worst.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We're playing 3D chess or whatever.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: It's amazing.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_02]: My ex used to accuse me of that, you know, at the

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_02]: same time that I was like a dumb bitch.

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I was also always plotting to ruin his life and just doing

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_02]: horrible things.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, that's pretty good.

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I'm both.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm every woman.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Isn't that a song?

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_02]: By Whitney Houston.

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay.

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm every woman.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the one.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the one.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So moving on to verse six.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Wait, no, chapter six verse 11.

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Chapter six verse 11.

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Also for you, Judah, a harvest is appointed whenever I

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_02]: would restore the fortunes of my people and then

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_02]: moving into chapter seven verse one, whenever I

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_02]: would heal Israel, the sins of Ephraim are exposed

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and the crimes of Samaria revealed.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So Judah has also transgressed.

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So it wasn't just Israel.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And their harvest will come.

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So to distinguish between the northern tribes and,

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: we're distinguishing between the northern tribes

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and Judah at this point.

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Because this is the time of kings somewhat.

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And so that's when we were talking about the

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: northern kingdoms and Judah is separate.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So he's saying, you know, I've been dissing

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel so much, but let us not forget that Judah,

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_02]: the southern tribes, they are also fuck faces.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So basically, Israel's fucked.

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Judah, take heed.

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And they don't.

[00:20:51] Yeah.

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Judah is being held to higher standards because

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_02]: they were forewarned.

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Which, fair enough, I guess, whatever.

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Debatable, but okay.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_02]: They will be reaped down and sent into captivity.

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_02]: They will reap what they sow.

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Those who sow the flesh will reap corruption.

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, that's what that was about.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, moving into chapter seven now.

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_02]: The oven, the bread and the dove.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember all that?

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel's iniquity and the rebellion.

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Only a little bit.

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe forget this a little bit.

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_01]: We were so all over the place this last couple of weeks

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: that I don't have a clue.

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So this chapter is about Israel being reproved for

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_02]: multiple sins resulting in God's wrath against them

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_02]: for their hypocrisy.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Which, I mean, that could very easily have just been

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_02]: the last chapter that you read.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Right, yeah.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_02]: All these chapters ever since we stopped talking,

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: talking about Gomer.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Being a whore.

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So verse 11, wait, yeah.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Verse 11 says, also for you, Judah,

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_02]: a harvest is appointed whenever I would restore

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_02]: the fortunes of my people and then continues

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_02]: into chapter seven, verse one,

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_02]: whenever I would heal Israel, the sins of Ephraim are

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_02]: exposed and the crimes of Samaria revealed.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_02]: So God is complaining in that second part of the sentence

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_02]: that though he had employed every means for reforming

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel, they still persisted in their iniquity

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_02]: without fearing the consequences.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, I tried to tell him.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But he didn't.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_01]: He told, you know, again.

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: We've said this multiple times.

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the same things over and over and over again.

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But you're talking to a few select prophets and the rest

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: of the people that are also important in these people's

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: lives are saying and then they themselves are prophets

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_01]: according to them.

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: They are saying that they are correct and these things

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_01]: are wrong.

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So who is, who are people supposed to believe?

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, God, if you're not talking to everybody,

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_01]: you can't really blame people for not getting

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: your fucking message.

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of like today there's so many different

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_02]: denominations of Christianity.

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Who could know?

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Could you imagine, for example, let's say that we had,

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_01]: okay, we all are aware of the media landscape that's

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_01]: in the world.

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Right?

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So let's say we had 25 people responsible to disseminate

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: all the information that's coming through on the

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_01]: news to the rest of us.

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And we just had to take their word for what was

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: happening.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Those 25 people.

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That's bullshit.

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That is fucking bullshit.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's exactly what's happening to the Israelites.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And they're being punished for it.

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: They're being told that they are bad and horrible

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and that they're going to die.

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And to be fair, they're not being told actually.

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just happening to them.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, according to the Bible.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what is bullshit because if you look at

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: that in the context of what we have to deal with

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_01]: today, it makes no fucking sense.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Why would anybody, why would any entity that is

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: supposedly divine and all powerful have this

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: system in place where you cannot let people get

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_01]: the correct information directly from the source?

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: That's dumb.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_04]: No, I totally agree.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_01]: There is no other avenue.

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_01]: The avenue is through the prophet.

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_01]: They can't even fucking read most of the time.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And at that time there wasn't even a Bible.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So what were they supposed to do?

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_02]: They were supposed to have known.

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Fuck that shit.

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_02]: No.

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so either.

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's crap.

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So verse three says they delight the king with their

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_02]: wickedness, the princes with their lies.

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_02]: We were like, what?

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_02]: This phrase probably refers to one of the

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_02]: successful assassination plots against the

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_02]: throne of Israel during the ministry of Hosea.

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Since there were four kings violently overthrown

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: during his ministry.

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to know exactly which one he means.

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Got it.

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So the Israelites always pleased Jeroboam by

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_02]: coming readily into his ways and heartily joining

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: him in his idolatry.

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And they profess to be perfectly happy in their

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_02]: change and to be greatly advantaged by their

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_02]: new gods.

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So they were saying that the religion of the

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_02]: state now was better than that of under

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Jehovah Yahweh.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Got it.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And thus they made all their rulers glad with

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_02]: their lies.

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Ah, okay.

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what was happening.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So verse seven says all of them are hot as an

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: oven.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: They devour their rulers, all their kings fall

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_02]: and none of them calls on me.

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The death of Jeroboam II was followed by a

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_02]: series of plots.

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Remember he had four kings killed during

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_02]: his time.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So Jeroboam was one of them.

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Conspir...

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_02]: The death of Jeroboam was followed by a

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_02]: series of plots, conspiracies and assassinations.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_02]: A pitiful slaughter among the idolatrous

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_02]: kings of Israel.

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And we read about that in Second Kings.

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Four of these kings had fallen during the

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_02]: time of Hosea, the successful assassin in

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_02]: all of these cases.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Who would then become the king was pleased

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_02]: with the treacherous needs of his fellow

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_02]: plotters even though he himself was not

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_02]: safe from the plotting of others.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's kind of funny.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this isn't exclusive to Israel.

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: No, not at all.

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the most famous...

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_01]: We all know the Ides of March because

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Julius Caesar was stabbed in the back

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: by his own people.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_01]: He's too brutal.

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Right, right.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So I mean like these types of scenarios

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: in ancient times were pretty fucking

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: familiar.

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And to be fair, even today we're

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: still dealing with some of that.

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: We just had...

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the guy but like Trump

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_01]: was... there was an attempted assassination.

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a second one.

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Kind of two, yeah.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So that second one didn't really even

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: get close to completing but I mean

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_01]: there were two assassination attempts

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_01]: against a former president which is

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: we still have this obsession with

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: power and the need to enact change

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: by taking that person out.

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say something real quick

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_02]: about it.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_02]: What I find really interesting, unless

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_02]: information has come out about the

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_02]: second guy that I have not heard yet

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_02]: which is totally possible.

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But the last I heard, neither of these

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_02]: guys was like Democrats trying to

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_02]: take out the Democrat rival.

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I know the first one was like

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_01]: previous... like from what I had heard

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and again I don't want to speak

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_01]: with authority but he had previously

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_01]: been like kind of pro-Republican

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and then fell out of sorts with

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump as opposed to like in his

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_01]: like dealings with the world I guess.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't believe that's correct.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, alright.

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And I could be wrong but it's my

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_02]: understanding that he had started

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_02]: out as a Democrat and had even

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_02]: paid like a $15 move on dot org

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_02]: toward them.

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_02]: But then became a Republican but

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_02]: so it was a registered Republican

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_02]: when he did the assassination

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: attempt which everybody was like

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_02]: what? That's weird.

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So but the thing is he had not

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_02]: although he was a registered

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Republican, he had not been

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_02]: active or anything and what they

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_02]: found on his computer or phone or

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_02]: whatever was that he was looking

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_02]: for a high-profile politician, he was

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_02]: looking up all of them whoever was

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_02]: coming closest to him.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Because he wanted to make a name for

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_02]: himself. So it didn't matter who

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_02]: was standing on that stage that day.

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Got it.

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_02]: He wanted to try to kill them for

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_01]: his own sake.

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I got it.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah so that's my understanding of

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_02]: what happened. Again I could have

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_02]: it wrong. With the second guy I

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_02]: think that he maybe was not

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_02]: he. It's always a he isn't it?

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he was registered

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_02]: either way. I don't know.

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that his was like some kind

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_02]: of he hasn't been mentally stable

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_02]: and heard that if

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Trump becomes president that it's

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_02]: going to be like the worst thing

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: ever and the world will explode.

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's why he tried but it was

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_02]: more of a mental illness thing

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_02]: than a Democrat running after a

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Republican because I don't know

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_02]: that he was necessarily a Democrat.

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's the most that I know of

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_02]: either of those two.

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And again I could be misremembering

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I could have them both wrong and

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_02]: also more information could have come

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_02]: out since whatever I just said.

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Got it.

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So I see you over there type

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_02]: type type in.

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: No I was just curious like.

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_02]: No I was just curious while you're

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_02]: doing that have you come up with

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_02]: any information that either adds to

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_02]: or refutes what I said.

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_01]: No no no I was I was just looking

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: up to see if there was anything

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_01]: like immediately available about

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_01]: his but the second person.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The second guy.

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Political affiliation and I

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_01]: you know off the top of my head

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: here I haven't found anything

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_01]: specifically so.

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: The top of the Google.

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah the top of the Google's

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: head so yeah I don't know.

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But it is what it is.

[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Well that's what I find

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting though is neither

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_02]: of them were like you know

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_02]: what I'm a hardcore liberal

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_02]: progressive lefty left.

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Democrat and I am going to go

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_02]: fuck some shit up today and kill

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_02]: me a goddamn mega Republican.

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Right like that doesn't happen

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_02]: because.

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Right people who are

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_02]: progressive Democrat liberal

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_02]: leftists.

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Aren't really in mind.

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Toward violence that way.

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Actually this might have been

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: the guy I was thinking of

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_01]: because his.

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: The second guy his.

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Social media.

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: He described himself as a

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump supporter turned Trump

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: critic.

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh OK.

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: That might have been who I was

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: thinking of.

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't realize that.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_02]: OK so that's the second guy

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_02]: then.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah interesting.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Still not a Democrat though.

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I would say.

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_02]: No that was probably more

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Christianity.

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't refer to

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: himself as a Democrat.

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_01]: He refers to himself as a

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump critic.

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Got it.

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That's.

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I would guess.

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Apparently he was once a

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: registered Democrat in North

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Carolina but.

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: That was two decades ago so

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_01]: then.

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Anybody anybody who has followed

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_01]: politics for two decades knows

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_01]: that that means something.

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Way different way different.

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah and even at that.

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_02]: A Republican in North Carolina

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_02]: or Democrat in North

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Carolina I should say is not

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_02]: the same as a Democrat in

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_02]: less red state.

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah you know.

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_02]: The reddest state Democrat

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_02]: is still going to be so far

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_02]: right of any.

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Like other Democrat.

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_02]: On like one of your coasts.

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Right yeah.

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_02]: So.

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah so I would say his

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_02]: assassination attempt was more

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_02]: probably.

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Christianity and ideology

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_02]: based.

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Well so again this is

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: the and I it's coming back to

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: me a little bit as to what I

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: did know.

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he had some.

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Tentative plans or want

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: or wish to go fight.

[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_01]: In Ukraine.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes I do remember.

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Which would lead me to

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: believe that he was not for the

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: stances that.

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You know Trump took against.

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah you know Ukraine.

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So he.

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_02]: That was gonna just go kill him.

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I guess.

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I don't know.

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Fuck.

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Well I mean Trump was going to

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you know basically hand Ukraine

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_01]: over to Russia.

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: There were wood.

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Wood and will if you ever

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_01]: became president so.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Again.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So that makes perfect sense.

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I always go out and murder

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_02]: people that are blowing up

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_02]: the world.

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Nope nope right.

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Do not recommend.

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Do not.

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_02]: So okay to go over those four

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_02]: kings that were.

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Each assassinated during.

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Hose heads lifetime.

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Zechariah was slain by Shalom.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Shalom was slain by Manoham.

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Manoham.

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Assassinated by.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Pecanaya.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Who was slain by.

[00:33:16] Peca.

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And.

[00:33:18] Peca.

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Was slain by.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Hosea.

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Guys.

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And that was all on second kings.

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And all were idolaters and all

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_02]: came to an untimely death.

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean as assassination does.

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_02]: You know.

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So verse eight goes on to say

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Ephraim mixes with the nations.

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Ephraim is a flat loaf not

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_02]: turned over.

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Ephraim is a cake unturned

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_02]: is another translation.

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Got it.

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So the idea is of a half

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_02]: baked cake.

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Where that comes from is this.

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_02]: In those days bread was often

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_02]: prepared as a cake that was

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_02]: cooked on both sides.

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Something like a pancake.

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Having heated the hearth they

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_02]: sweep one corner put the

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_02]: cake upon it and cover it with

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_02]: embers.

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_02]: In a short time they'll turn

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_02]: it over cover it again and

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_02]: continue this several times in

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_02]: a row till they find it

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_02]: sufficiently baked.

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: In thinking they can serve

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: the people can serve both

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_02]: God and the idols of other

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_02]: nations.

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel is like an unturned

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_02]: pancake burnt on one side

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_02]: uncooked on the other.

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Got it.

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's what they meant by a

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_02]: half baked cake or a cake

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_02]: unturned or a flat loaf

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_02]: not turned over.

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_01]: See now I feel like they would

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_01]: be thinking that they're

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_01]: like a completely turned cake.

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_01]: They're like I'm taking

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: advice from all these gods

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_01]: you know here just turn me

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_01]: over many times.

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.

[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever we'll go over this

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_01]: one today.

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm full baked.

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_01]: That went tomorrow I got all

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_01]: the gods look at this.

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so baked.

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Verse nine says foreigner

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_02]: sap his strength but he

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_02]: does not realize it.

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_02]: His hair is sprinkled with

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: gray but he does not notice.

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Remember that and we were like

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_02]: the fuck is this right.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm assuming it's talking about

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_01]: influences from like other

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_01]: cultures like the Egyptians

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and the Syrians and stuff like

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: that.

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes or no is that he's doing

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_02]: all of these bad behaviors

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_02]: that he's getting from other

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: neighbors but he doesn't notice

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_02]: how he's acting.

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_01]: So the being Israel.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's being it's comparing a

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: man who's like super old has

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_02]: gray hair he's all grizzled

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_02]: right but he's still acting

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_02]: like a young shot you know like

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_02]: talking about those glory

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_02]: football days right so not

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_02]: realizing acting a way that

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: is not true to who he

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_02]: actually is.

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Got it.

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Is what that's about.

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Got it.

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay verse 11 says Ephraim

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_02]: is like a dove easily deceiving

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: and senseless now calling to

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Egypt now turning to a Syria

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's why I was saying

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: what I said because I remember

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: that being part of that

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_01]: chapter was that they were

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_01]: talking about Egypt and

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Syria and when they're

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_01]: what was the bit before where

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_01]: they were saying that they

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: were easily swayed or

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_01]: similar they were taking too

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: much influence from something

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_01]: or other or whatever.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Foreigners sap his strength

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah foreigners sap his

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_01]: strength so like and then

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_01]: they move on directly to

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_01]: talk about a Syria and

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Egypt which is why I said

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: what I said because I feel

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: like that was part of it too.

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Got it well another way

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that that is translated in

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_02]: other versions Ephraim also

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_02]: is like a silly dove without

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_01]: heart damn silly doves I know

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_02]: well I found this part very

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting because here's

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_02]: the thing I don't know a

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_02]: lot about doves except they're

[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_02]: supposed to be the bird of

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: peace right and that they

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_02]: carry an olive branch to

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_02]: offer that peace and that comes

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_02]: directly from that whole

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Noah's Ark thing right yeah

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_02]: so here's the thing a dove is

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_02]: a bird that has very little

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_02]: understanding it's easily

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_02]: snared and taken it's careless

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: about its own young and it

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: seems to live without any kind

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_02]: of thought so it's a dumb

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: bird I didn't know it has been

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_02]: made by those who like

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_02]: itself are with heart without

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_02]: heart the symbol of conjugal

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: affection so all they care about

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_02]: is fucking not taking care of

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_02]: anything else much like what

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel is doing right now right

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean not right now today

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_02]: right now in the Bible sorry

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_02]: wanted to clarify nothing

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_02]: worse could have been chosen

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_02]: for the dove and its mate are

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_02]: continually quarreling so that's

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_02]: just like I had no idea about

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_02]: these birds that are just the

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_02]: birds of peace sure so anyway

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: they strive to make Egypt and

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Assyria their allies and friends

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_02]: like they keep going back and forth

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_02]: remember we talked about this when

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_02]: we were reading way back how

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_02]: they're just in the middle

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: right well then that was

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_01]: this that was actually later on

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_01]: yes this is before that

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah it's constantly been a

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_01]: struggle it's constantly been a

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: political turmoil there in the

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_01]: middle of all these major powers

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's why a lot of shit

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: happened here because they were

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_01]: in the middle of it all yes that's

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_02]: all because they live they lived in

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_02]: a good place well resource wise

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_01]: yes and they lived in the middle

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: of a bunch of other shit right

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_02]: but I mean everybody wanted that

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_02]: area of the world because that

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_02]: area had like fertile crescent

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_02]: you know the whole like nice

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_02]: valleys and water and whatnot you

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_02]: know came in the land of honey

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_02]: right like it was good land so

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_02]: everybody wanted it right and so

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_02]: they all fought over it the end

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_02]: that full story yeah so when

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_02]: they're specifically going between

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Egypt and Assyria their kind of

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_02]: their allies they're like

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_02]: frenemies but this showed that

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_02]: like the doves they were without

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_02]: heart and had no understanding

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_02]: for those two Egypt and Assyria

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_02]: were rival nations and Israel

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_02]: could not attach itself to one

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_02]: without incurring the jealousy

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and displeasure of the other so

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_02]: thus like the silly dove they were

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_02]: constantly falling into snares

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_02]: sometimes of the Egyptians and

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_02]: other times of the Assyrians by

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_02]: the former they were betrayed

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and by the latter they were ruined

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_02]: got it so yeah that interesting

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah okay moving on to chapter

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_02]: eight okay so the wind reap

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_02]: the whirlwind the rebuke of

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I Israel's idolatry you remember

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_02]: that I love that so the wind

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_02]: reap the whirlwind right I love it

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_02]: so this chapter contains prophecies

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_02]: about the impending destruction of

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel and Judah for their impiety

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_02]: and idolatry and it's like does it

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_02]: because I thought we just read that

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_02]: again the chapter begins with

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_02]: threatening some hostile invasion

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_02]: in short and broken sentences full

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_02]: of rapidity ba ba ba ba ba ba

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_02]: boom boom and expressive of

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_02]: sudden danger and alarm due to

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_02]: their hypocrisy iniquity trees

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_02]: and an idolatry particularly the

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_02]: worshiping of the calves of

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Dan and Bethel boom boom boom

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_02]: the people of Israel claim to know

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_02]: God but they have broken their coven

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_02]: in with him and sinned against his

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_02]: law did they oh no I never knew

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that always the whole book God

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_02]: will use the Assyrian army here

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_02]: symbolized by an eagle to bring

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_02]: his punishment upon them their

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_02]: kings are not people appointed by

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_02]: God but traders who murder to

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_02]: gain power the center of their

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_02]: religion is not Yahweh God

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_02]: but the golden calves set up as

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_02]: idols in their cities which is

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_01]: also Yahweh to them yes exactly

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_01]: from what we did research on earlier

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: when we were reading through stuff

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah so that bears repeating yeah

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_02]: every time this comes up it does

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_02]: so verse seven says

[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_02]: they sow the wind and reap the

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_02]: whirlwind the stock has no head

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_02]: it will produce no flower where to

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_02]: yield grain foreigners would swallow

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_02]: it up so this is considered a proverb

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_02]: which states that works have rewards

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and actions have consequences

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_02]: especially that people may face

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_02]: negative consequences for their bad

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: actions sure reap what your mother

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_02]: fucking so right you know we all

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: know that one yeah so moving on to

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_02]: chapter nine this is about being

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_02]: exiled and dried up okay yep the

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_02]: punishments to fit the sins the

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_02]: punishment for Israel's persistent

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_02]: unfaithfulness blah blah blah blah

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_02]: wait no kidding it just goes on and on

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_02]: about it right hey this chapter

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_02]: contains prophecies about the

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_02]: distress and captivity of Israel

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_02]: for her sins oh her sins now she's

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_02]: a girl again right especially for

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_02]: committing idolatry and so we're

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_02]: coming to a place where the end

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_02]: of the good life in Israel is

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_01]: common sure I mean it seems like

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_02]: that's always they're about to get it

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_02]: they're always about to get it yeah

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_02]: like two seconds from getting it right

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_02]: ball worship and its accompanying

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_02]: immoral rituals were aimed at

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_02]: increasing the produce from farms

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_02]: and vineyards as a punishment God

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_02]: will destroy the farms and vineyards

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and send the people into captivity

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_01]: that'll teach people you know we

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_01]: need we want more farm production and

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_01]: we're gonna try to fix it by doing

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_01]: this and then instead the person that

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_01]: we're supposed to be worshipping

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that we don't know we're supposed to

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_01]: be worshipping he's gonna he's gonna ruin

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_01]: all that and then we're supposed to

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_01]: worship him yeah that doesn't make

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: it don't you always worship the one that

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_02]: fuck you up no right no no me neither

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_02]: neither there they will be forced to

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_02]: eat food that to them is unclean when

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_02]: they are sent into captivity right and

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_02]: so sad they will not be able to

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_02]: offer the usual food and wine

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_02]: offerings once they're in captivity

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_02]: in fact they will barely have enough to

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_02]: keep themselves alive right so so I

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_01]: guess they're gonna be very happy that

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_01]: they have that unclean food from these

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: other people that have other gods yeah

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and gracious that these people are

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: helping them sustain their life right

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and yet God is the one that's letting

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_01]: them go over there to wither and die

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah and then he's like how dare you

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_02]: eat that food like what what fuck

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_02]: you dude yeah so then we get into the

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_02]: days of Israel's punishment in Egypt so

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_02]: meanwhile while this is happening the

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_02]: land in which they once lived will become

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_02]: wild again through neglect mm-hmm the

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_02]: people do not like Jose's denunciations and

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_02]: warnings obviously they never do no

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_01]: one no one likes the naysayers right

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: don't it's a thing they say people

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_01]: say don't kill the messenger you know

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: people don't like it when you bring

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: bad news right right and and more

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_01]: over why the fuck would they believe

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: you yeah I don't understand what your

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_01]: your standing is that makes you more

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_01]: authoritative than somebody else now see

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_02]: here's where a Christian or Republican

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_02]: or both or whatever might say yeah but

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Democrats are always doom and glooming

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_02]: and naysaying about the end of the

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_02]: world because we're melted or it's too

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_02]: hot or it's gonna flood what is it now

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_02]: oh the world's on fire right climate

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_02]: change blah blah then they would say

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_02]: you're telling us that you shouldn't

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_02]: believe the naysayers or don't shoot the

[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_02]: messenger but you guys are being

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_02]: doomsday sayers I'm saying this person

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_01]: doesn't have any facts to back them up

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_01]: at least we have facts to back this up

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_01]: totally over I kind of agree that we

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_01]: should probably be more positive with

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_01]: action that we're going to take yeah

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_01]: as opposed to always talking about the

[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_01]: shitty things that are gonna happen

[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah and I'm not saying we don't need to

[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_01]: address those but our public front

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_01]: should be hey just we all know this is

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_01]: the thing but this is what we're gonna

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_01]: do positively to enact change yeah we

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_01]: should talk more about that change and

[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_01]: how it's going to influence jobs and

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_01]: do all these other like it should

[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_01]: snowball into a fucking just branched

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_01]: out you know chart of everything is

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_01]: gonna be awesome by the time we're

[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_01]: done with our plan yeah and right now

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_01]: we're just reacting to shitty things that

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_02]: are happening I mean to be fair like

[00:45:30] [SPEAKER_02]: the world's on fire and we're running

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_02]: around trying to put the fires out and

[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_02]: there's not been a lot of time to like

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_02]: just sit down and make a plan but we

[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_02]: need to yeah no I totally agree so the

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_02]: people like I said do not like hosea's

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_02]: denunciations and warnings and

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_02]: warnings he is God's messenger to them

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_02]: the nation's watchmen remember we talked

[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_02]: about watchmen right but they call him

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_02]: a fool and a madman and they even plot

[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_02]: to kill him yeah so Israel is barren

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and dried up in judgment and God is

[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_02]: then introduced declaring his early

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_02]: favor for his people and the delight

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_02]: he took in their obedience he's like

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_02]: remember when I used to love you

[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and they're like no not really yeah

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_02]: but now the people had so deeply

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_02]: revolted all their glory will take wing

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_02]: God will forsake them and their

[00:46:22] [SPEAKER_02]: offspring will be devoted to destruction

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah okay so God sends barrenness

[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_02]: and bereavement yeah when God brought

[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_02]: the people of Israel out of Egypt and

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_02]: led them through the wilderness his

[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_02]: desire was that they enter a new era

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_02]: of fruitfulness but before they

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_02]: reached the promised land even they

[00:46:42] [SPEAKER_02]: had turned to Baalism and its

[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_02]: immorality got it so you know I feel

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_01]: like God wasn't holding up his end of the

[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_01]: bargain he never does that's you know such

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_02]: unfaithfulness has characterized the

[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_02]: people ever since then like from day one

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_02]: they've been fuck ups yeah they

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_02]: practice sexual rights hoping that

[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_02]: their families will increase so God's

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_02]: punishment accordingly will cause their

[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_02]: families to decrease because of their

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Baal practices they will be fruitless

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_02]: instead of fruitful they will go into

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_02]: shameful captivity in a foreign land

[00:47:15] [SPEAKER_02]: boom okay so chapter 10 now we're closing

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_02]: in on the end yeah Israel has no king

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_02]: what the punishment for Israel's

[00:47:23] [SPEAKER_02]: persistent unfaithfulness continued

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_02]: reaping what they have motherfucking

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_02]: sown okay yeah this last chapter here

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_02]: contains prophecies dated to the

[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_02]: period between Shaman Shaman nesser

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_02]: the fifth first and second invasions of

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel and I was like I'm sorry what's a

[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_02]: shaman nesser so this chapter contains

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_02]: prophecies dated to the period between

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_02]: shaman nesser the fifth first and

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_02]: second invasions of Israel and I was

[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_02]: like what the fuck is a shaman nesser

[00:47:53] [SPEAKER_02]: right less five of them right so

[00:47:55] [SPEAKER_02]: here's who he was he was a king of

[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_02]: the neo-assyrian

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Assyrian Empire from the death of his

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_02]: father to Glath Pillesar the third in

[00:48:07] [SPEAKER_02]: 727 BCE to his death deposition and death

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_02]: in 722 BCE so he ruled about five years

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_02]: shaman nesser the fifth brief reign is

[00:48:18] [SPEAKER_02]: poorly known from contemporary sources

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_02]: but is renowned for the conquest of

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Samaria and the fall of the kingdom of

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel who knew though the conclusion

[00:48:29] [SPEAKER_02]: of that campaign is sometimes attributed

[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_02]: to his successor Sargon

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that sucks lost credit

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah I mean I never heard of the dude

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_02]: but I've heard of Sargon

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Israel is reproved and threatened for

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_02]: its impiety and idolatry you know some

[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_02]: more and exhorted to repentance you

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: know some more right so then we talk

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_02]: more about what this chapter deals with

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_02]: which is more the same

[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah more of the same yeah the same

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_02]: more it's the same yeah it begins

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_02]: with comparing Israel to a fruitful vine

[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_02]: that is corrupted by too much

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_02]: prosperity that always happens to me

[00:49:07] [SPEAKER_02]: then it next reproves and threatens them

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_02]: for their idolatry and archie and breach

[00:49:12] [SPEAKER_02]: of covenant I feel like they keep reading

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_02]: the same sentences over and over they are

[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_02]: their idolatry is then enlarged upon

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_02]: and its fatal consequences declared

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_02]: in terms of sublimity and pathos

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_02]: darkness darkness

[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_02]: okay so verse 8 says

[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_02]: the high places of wickedness will be

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_02]: destroyed it is the sin of Israel

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_02]: thorns and thistles will grow up

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_02]: and cover their altars then they will say

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_02]: to the mountains cover us into the hills

[00:49:40] [SPEAKER_02]: fall on us and we were like what the

[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_02]: fuck does that all mean do you remember

[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah so this is saying that no one

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_02]: can be trusted injustice like a

[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_02]: poisonous plant is having a deadly

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_02]: effect it is killing the nation the

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_02]: people do not fear God and as a result

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_02]: will fall under his judgment they

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_02]: along with their king and the golden

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_02]: calf that they worship will be carried

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_02]: off to Assyria the land will be ruined

[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_02]: and the ball alters will become

[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_02]: overgrown with weeds okay so then we

[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_02]: move on and God is introduced complaining

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_02]: of their excessive guilt and threatening

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_02]: them with captivity in terms that bear

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_02]: a manifest illusion to their favorite

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_02]: idolatry the worshiping of the

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_02]: similitude of a calf or heifer okay and

[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_02]: then so we move on to verse 11 ephraim

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_02]: is a trained heifer that loves to

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_02]: thresh so I will put a yoke on her fair

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_02]: neck I will drive ephraim Judah must

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_02]: plow and Jacob must break up the ground

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_01]: definitely a question about yeah like

[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_02]: what even is all that right okay so

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_02]: ephraim is thoroughly broken into and

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_02]: goes along peaceably in the yoke okay is

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_02]: what this is all about got it so she

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_02]: doesn't mind she's fine okay she is

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_02]: pleased and thus eats the corn but she

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_02]: will not only tread out the corn she

[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_02]: will also draw the plow and drag the

[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_02]: hero so that there may be seed for the

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_02]: fields Israel very frequently asked for

[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_02]: stuff from Judah so they leaned on

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Judah a lot right and as Israel love

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_02]: to quote tread out the corn and not

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_02]: the plow so they like didn't mind eating

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_02]: what was cooked but they didn't want to

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_02]: do the work okay therefore now he will

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_02]: be made to plow he's gonna have to work

[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_02]: got it which is to say he will be put

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_02]: under the yoke of the Assyrians okay

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah so Judah and Jacob shall plow for

[00:51:42] [SPEAKER_02]: themselves means that Judah should no

[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_02]: longer plow for Israel but for

[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_02]: himself and Israel shall no more make

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_02]: requests on him or demands and that you

[00:51:55] [SPEAKER_02]: got to do your own shit got it okay so

[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_02]: that apparently is what that meant okay so

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_02]: that pretty much sums up those five

[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_02]: chapters and answers the few questions

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that we had all right yeah I was very

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_01]: repetitive it was very much the same

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_01]: thing all the way through mm-hmm and

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah that God sucks no right yeah I

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_02]: think that he gave me a runny nose

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_02]: and a yeah so if you heard me sniffling

[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_02]: throughout I apologize we're gonna try

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_02]: to edit some of that out so I might get

[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_02]: through though so right apologies

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_02]: apologies apologies and I think that's it

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_01]: yep so that was our Q&A for today yes

[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_01]: it was I will be getting the weekly wrap

[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_01]: up out here for tomorrow and then we're

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_01]: going to do some we're gonna do a

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_01]: special episode yeah and we'll explain

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit more about what our

[00:52:45] [SPEAKER_01]: upcoming weeks will look like from

[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_01]: therefore they're going forward and

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_02]: that will be in our live and yeah that

[00:52:51] [SPEAKER_01]: will be our live episode rumor which we'll

[00:52:53] [SPEAKER_01]: be doing Wednesday night at 10 PM Eastern

[00:52:56] [SPEAKER_02]: 10 PM Eastern on discord yep and there's

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_01]: always a link in the show notes so just

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_01]: definitely check that out and join us

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_01]: there

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_01]: yep and then we'll see you guys then

[00:53:05] [SPEAKER_02]: yep bye bye
