Micah Chapters 1-4: Puns, Prophets, and Parenting

Join Husband and Wife as they return from a holiday hiatus to tackle a Q&A session on the first four chapters of Micah in this episode ofSacrilegious Discourse. With insomnia-induced rants and signature humor, they navigate through the poetic puns and prophetic confusion of Micah's world, all while drawing hilarious parallels to modern parenting challenges.

Here's what we're unpacking:

1. Micah's Timeline Tangle: Explore the confusion surrounding Micah's timeline and how it relates to the Babylonian Exile and Assyrian dominance.

2. Punny Prophecies: Delve into the Hebrew puns that make Micah's prophecies both perplexing and amusing, revealing the clever (or not-so-clever) wordplay of ancient prophets.

3. False Prophets and Modern Day Parallels: Discuss the definition of false prophets and how today's religious apologists muddy the waters of biblical interpretation.

4. Parenting and Prophetic Puns:Laugh along as Husband and Wife draw hilarious comparisons between Micah's prophecies and the trials of parenting, complete with knock-knock jokes and three-year-old tantrums.

Whether you're here for the biblical critique or the candid banter, this episode offers a thought-provoking and entertaining exploration of Micah's tale. [00:00:00] Welcome to Sacrilegious Discourse.

[00:00:01] For this is what the Sovereign Lord says!

[00:00:03] Why do you need prophets to tell people who you are and what you want?

[00:00:07] If you can justify everything that the God of the Bible has done, then you can justify any of your behavior.

[00:00:14] A lot of this mentality is trickling into what is now mainstream right-wing Christianity.

[00:00:20] I am capable of empathy greater than this God of the Bible.

[00:00:26] This is a Bible that they tell kids.

[00:00:29] This is the good Lord. This is the good book.

[00:00:32] He is fantasizing about murder. Mass murder.

[00:00:37] Head over to SacrilegiousDiscourse.com right now to find out how to leave us a review or support us on Patreon.

[00:00:49] Hey there sinners and saints! It's your favorite Bible bashing duo from Sacrilegious Discourse, and we need your help.

[00:00:54] That's right folks! We're raising funds for some heavenly equipment

[00:00:58] and a studio that doesn't sound like it's in the depths of hell.

[00:01:01] Our current setup? Let's just say it's more apocalypse than audiophile.

[00:01:05] So, if you want to hear us dissect the Bible without the background noise of demonic squirrels, chip in a few bucks.

[00:01:12] We're aiming for $5,000 to upgrade our audio and build a studio worthy of blasphemous banter.

[00:01:17] Donate today and help us spread the good word of atheism.

[00:01:20] You can find a link right on our homepage, SacrilegiousDiscourse.com. Every dollar counts.

[00:01:25] Even if it's from your collection plate!

[00:01:34] Do I know you?

[00:01:35] Uh, you know me, but we've been gone for a bit.

[00:01:39] We sure have.

[00:01:40] Yeah.

[00:01:41] Happy Holidays!

[00:01:43] But I really can't even say it's all the holidays.

[00:01:46] Yeah, there was some Christmas and there was some New Years and there was some illnesses and there was you working lots of hours.

[00:01:55] But also, somewhere in there I changed to a new medication.

[00:02:00] Yeah.

[00:02:00] And, um, the problem is that it's giving me insomnia.

[00:02:05] So, like, for three or four days I will not sleep at night at all.

[00:02:10] And then on that third, fourth or fifth day that night I will crash and then I will sleep the entire whole next day.

[00:02:18] Right.

[00:02:19] Yeah.

[00:02:19] It's been causing some problems.

[00:02:21] Yeah.

[00:02:22] Um, that's so that's what happened.

[00:02:25] That's me.

[00:02:25] That's my fault.

[00:02:26] I'll take that.

[00:02:27] I mean, it's not my fault, but it's my fault.

[00:02:30] Right.

[00:02:30] Right.

[00:02:31] Um, so that being said, let's remind everybody where we are.

[00:02:35] Okay.

[00:02:36] Um, yeah, we're in the book of Micah.

[00:02:39] Yep.

[00:02:39] He's a prophet, but a minor one.

[00:02:41] Yes.

[00:02:42] And we've read the first four chapters and so we're going to do the Q&A covering those four chapters.

[00:02:49] Awesome.

[00:02:49] All right.

[00:02:50] Um, and I think I'll be getting the weekly wrap up out on Saturday after this one comes out.

[00:02:55] So, and then we should hopefully we're, we're really gunning for this to be back on schedule for next week.

[00:03:01] Yes.

[00:03:02] Yes.

[00:03:02] Hopefully on Monday, we'll be back with chapter five of my.

[00:03:06] Yes.

[00:03:06] All right.

[00:03:07] But for now it's a Q and a not on Saturday.

[00:03:10] Someday we will do that correctly again.

[00:03:13] All right, let's do this.

[00:03:15] Okie dokie.

[00:03:22] All right.

[00:03:22] So Micah chapters one through four.

[00:03:26] Yeah.

[00:03:27] And I had a lot of confusion as to when this shit took place.

[00:03:32] Okay.

[00:03:33] All right.

[00:03:33] Let me ask you this.

[00:03:35] Do you recall?

[00:03:35] When did you think that this took place?

[00:03:37] I was thinking that this was in the like 800 BCE timeframe, I think.

[00:03:43] But it's been a while since we were doing the chapters.

[00:03:45] So I may be mistaken about that.

[00:03:48] So.

[00:03:49] I think you're right.

[00:03:50] Um, for some reason it felt like it was around the Babylonian exile, but it wasn't.

[00:03:56] Right.

[00:03:57] No, that we, we had talked about that because that was something that you had brought up when you introduced Micah.

[00:04:02] Mm hmm.

[00:04:03] As how they, the timeframe was pre Babylonian exile, but then people re mixed it, I guess, to fit with the Babylonian exile because a lot of the stuff that he prophesies, um, didn't come true until the Babylon.

[00:04:21] Like, like it couldn't be made to come true until the Babylonian exile.

[00:04:24] Yeah.

[00:04:25] Yeah.

[00:04:25] So this stuff took place, um, before the Assyrians.

[00:04:31] Yeah.

[00:04:32] And it, it's just very confusing because then like I was reading somebody's notes about chapter four in particular, since that was really confusing to us.

[00:04:43] Yes, it was.

[00:04:44] And they started talking about the Chaldeans and I was like, hang on, what?

[00:04:47] Hmm.

[00:04:48] And they.

[00:04:49] You're like, I know when that was, that wasn't around.

[00:04:51] Yeah.

[00:04:51] That's wrong.

[00:04:53] And so I did a double check and yeah, no, this person was like way off.

[00:04:59] Um.

[00:05:00] Right.

[00:05:00] But they, they had to make it match.

[00:05:02] Right.

[00:05:03] This is where, this is where the, the Micah remix happens.

[00:05:05] Yeah.

[00:05:06] It, it just, it was, it was very confusing while I was studying it.

[00:05:10] It was confusing because multiple generations wrote different versions of this or, well,

[00:05:14] you know, contributed I'll say to this.

[00:05:17] And then on top of that, um, we've got fucking Christian apologists coming in and given their

[00:05:23] two cents and, and they're throwing shit into the mix that ain't right.

[00:05:28] Well, yeah.

[00:05:29] And I'm like, I think, I think honestly, the, the whole point of being, I, it, when you are

[00:05:36] a Christian apologist or, or someone who is Christian, who has studied the Bible enough

[00:05:41] to know that there are issues.

[00:05:43] Right.

[00:05:43] I think part of the whole M O is just to muddle, muddy the waters enough to where it could make

[00:05:51] sense.

[00:05:52] Right.

[00:05:52] Right.

[00:05:52] That's the whole, like, that's the whole way that they operate.

[00:05:56] They're like, well, if we could make this match here and that match there, we don't

[00:05:59] really care for all the points mix, but as long as we can make it sound like it does,

[00:06:04] then it could have happened.

[00:06:06] But guess what?

[00:06:07] You know what?

[00:06:08] What?

[00:06:08] Those people by their own rules are false prophets.

[00:06:11] Literally.

[00:06:12] Well, yeah.

[00:06:12] Literally they are false prophets.

[00:06:14] And let me explain how I know that and why, because I did a study cause I was confused.

[00:06:21] Like is a false prophet, somebody who makes shit up and just says that is from God, or is

[00:06:28] a false prophet, somebody who actually hears legitimate words from God, but then does not deliver that

[00:06:34] message and delivers some other message instead.

[00:06:37] Let me guess.

[00:06:38] The answer is yes.

[00:06:39] The answer is both.

[00:06:40] Yeah.

[00:06:40] And, and I did not quite realize that.

[00:06:44] And I thought maybe that there was a differentiation, but no, if you're just making shit up and claiming

[00:06:51] that that's what God said, you are speaking on God's behalf, you're a fucking false prophet.

[00:06:56] And I'm going to start calling people that you are a false fucking prophet.

[00:07:01] Yeah.

[00:07:02] Because, and it pisses me off because like, I'm personally offended because I'm actually trying

[00:07:08] to learn the truth.

[00:07:11] You know, I want to know, Hey, I don't want your fucking opinion.

[00:07:15] I want to know what actually happened when you're asserting shit that is not backed up

[00:07:21] by facts or by logical leaps of, of like, we can assume this because of X, Y, Z.

[00:07:30] And you're just like, whatever I want it to be true.

[00:07:34] You're a false fucking prophet.

[00:07:35] And I hate you.

[00:07:37] How about that?

[00:07:38] Yeah, no, I agree.

[00:07:39] You know, I'm, I'm just like, Oh, shut the fuck up.

[00:07:42] Okay.

[00:07:43] I'm sorry.

[00:07:44] I'm, I'm on a, I was very, if I was personally offended when, when somebody started talking

[00:07:49] about the fucking Chaldeans, I was like, you totally need to kiss my ass.

[00:07:54] You're, you're wrong.

[00:07:55] You're talking about the wrong people and the wrong times and get out.

[00:08:00] Just go away.

[00:08:01] You're a false prophet.

[00:08:02] Right, right.

[00:08:03] All right.

[00:08:03] But let's talk about these fucking chapters.

[00:08:06] Okay.

[00:08:06] Okay.

[00:08:07] And like, I cannot tell you enough how much I don't give a shit about Micah.

[00:08:13] Honestly.

[00:08:15] So chapter one was about the judgment against Samaria and Judah.

[00:08:21] Okay.

[00:08:21] So like, just for a brief summary, Micah begins that chapter with a call for all nations to

[00:08:27] witness God's judgment against Samaria, which is the capital of Israel.

[00:08:31] Right.

[00:08:32] And Judah, which is centered on Jerusalem.

[00:08:36] Right.

[00:08:36] Yes.

[00:08:36] Israel we're referring to as the Northern kingdoms though, at this point, not like the

[00:08:40] whole of what we would currently call Israel.

[00:08:43] This is early on.

[00:08:45] This is very early on in the eight hundreds.

[00:08:48] Yeah.

[00:08:48] They were still a split kingdom though, at that point.

[00:08:50] Yeah.

[00:08:50] Okay.

[00:08:51] You're right.

[00:08:52] And then, so Samaria with the capital of Israel and then Judah, which is centered on

[00:08:58] Jerusalem.

[00:09:00] Okay.

[00:09:00] Yeah.

[00:09:00] And Micah describes God descending from his heavenly temple to bring destruction due to

[00:09:07] their idolatry and sins, but mostly just their fucking idolatry.

[00:09:11] Right.

[00:09:11] Because he cannot fucking stand if you give anybody else credit, but him.

[00:09:16] Right.

[00:09:16] He's like, no, just me.

[00:09:18] Only me.

[00:09:19] I'm the biggest.

[00:09:19] I'm the best.

[00:09:20] My dick weighs the most, which is funny because kid was like literally just making us watch an

[00:09:26] episode of what happens in the shadows.

[00:09:29] Yeah.

[00:09:30] And, um, uh, what's his name?

[00:09:32] Nan, nan, nan, nan, nan.

[00:09:33] Nandor.

[00:09:34] Nandor was trying to take like the long sleep or the big, the big nap.

[00:09:39] Right.

[00:09:39] Yes.

[00:09:39] And, um, the council of whatever vampires, like I've only seen a few episodes, so I

[00:09:44] don't, I'm kind of hit or miss on that show.

[00:09:46] Sure.

[00:09:46] Anyway, the council came from Britain or whatever.

[00:09:49] And they were like, I heard he's got a big dick and since he's asleep or whatever,

[00:09:54] dead or whatever, let's just like prove it.

[00:09:57] And so they're like looking at his dick and they're like, it's normal.

[00:10:02] It's just normal.

[00:10:03] And then they're like, maybe they mean heavy.

[00:10:05] And, and so dude like, like picks it up to see if it's heavy.

[00:10:09] And he's like, it's just normal.

[00:10:11] Right.

[00:10:11] Right.

[00:10:11] Just for anybody who's new to listening, kid is 20.

[00:10:14] Oh yeah.

[00:10:15] Sorry.

[00:10:17] Yeah.

[00:10:18] I guess, I guess that makes a difference.

[00:10:19] Sorry.

[00:10:20] Yeah.

[00:10:21] We don't just watch dick joke shows with like a child.

[00:10:25] Right.

[00:10:25] We call kid, kid because.

[00:10:28] I just thought I'd clarify.

[00:10:28] Yeah.

[00:10:29] No, that, that, that bore an explanation.

[00:10:32] Yeah.

[00:10:32] Thank you for adding that.

[00:10:33] Sure.

[00:10:33] That two bits so that we don't get fucking child services called on us.

[00:10:37] Yeah.

[00:10:38] 20 year olds are allowed to laugh at dick jokes.

[00:10:40] Yes.

[00:10:41] Yes.

[00:10:41] Very much.

[00:10:42] So like more so than, than I am at the age of almost 50, but I find dick jokes hilarious

[00:10:49] because I never grew up.

[00:10:50] And we know, we know.

[00:10:51] We do know.

[00:10:52] Yeah.

[00:10:53] So anyway.

[00:10:54] I'm just saying.

[00:10:54] Yeah.

[00:10:55] Yeah.

[00:10:56] So God and Nandor have the biggest dicks.

[00:11:00] Mm.

[00:11:00] Just kidding.

[00:11:01] Just God.

[00:11:02] God has the biggest dick.

[00:11:03] Just kidding.

[00:11:04] Not God either.

[00:11:05] No.

[00:11:05] Right.

[00:11:06] Because God's a, God is a dick.

[00:11:08] Right.

[00:11:08] Were he to exist, which he does not.

[00:11:10] Yes.

[00:11:11] And yeah.

[00:11:12] So anyway, he's all pissy about their idolatry.

[00:11:17] So he comes down and he steps on mountains and he makes fucking valleys and whatever.

[00:11:21] Yeah.

[00:11:22] And Samaria's punishment is foretold in this super vivid imagery, including all of its ruins

[00:11:30] being left like a vineyard.

[00:11:31] Oh, okay.

[00:11:32] Yeah.

[00:11:32] It's, it's really weird.

[00:11:34] Right.

[00:11:34] Um, he uses like all of these metaphors and imagery such as God treading the high places

[00:11:41] and mountains melting like wax.

[00:11:43] Yeah.

[00:11:44] Okay.

[00:11:44] So there's like all this poetry there.

[00:11:46] Right.

[00:11:46] Right.

[00:11:46] And it's supposed to be like beautiful, but he also uses all these puns, which we said

[00:11:51] at the time that it was phrased really fucking weird.

[00:11:55] And we were like, why is this phrase so weird?

[00:11:58] Yeah.

[00:11:58] Okay.

[00:11:58] It's because every single place there's a pun on it.

[00:12:03] Okay.

[00:12:04] Okay.

[00:12:04] So like, he says, tell it not in gath, weep not at all in Beth, Ophrah roll in the dust.

[00:12:12] Okay.

[00:12:12] This is a play on words.

[00:12:14] It's like if, okay, so there's a place in Ohio, in Dayton or no, not in Dayton.

[00:12:19] There's a place in Ohio named Lima.

[00:12:20] It's like, if we said, um, you people that live in Lima, you're going to choke on Lima

[00:12:26] beans.

[00:12:27] Ah, ah, ah.

[00:12:29] Right.

[00:12:29] That's what this is like.

[00:12:31] Okay.

[00:12:31] So gath is like, it's in Hebrew sounds like the word tell.

[00:12:36] So he's like, tell it not in tell.

[00:12:39] Ah, ah.

[00:12:40] Okay.

[00:12:40] And then, um, Beth Ophrah literally means, um, rolling in the dust or the house of dust.

[00:12:46] Okay.

[00:12:47] So he's like in the house of dust, roll in the dust.

[00:12:51] I see.

[00:12:51] Boom.

[00:12:52] Yeah.

[00:12:52] Okay.

[00:12:53] How, how, how very clever.

[00:12:54] I know.

[00:12:55] Right.

[00:12:55] Like that.

[00:12:56] Well, back then these puns and play on words, like that's what made these profits appear

[00:13:02] wise, that they could do this word play.

[00:13:04] They were like so fucking clever.

[00:13:07] You Lima losers that eat Lima beans.

[00:13:10] Right.

[00:13:11] Like that would make me so fucking clever.

[00:13:14] Um, I don't think that people in Lima are losers.

[00:13:16] I'm saying that because of the show Glee, which takes place in Lima and they're known as the

[00:13:21] Lima losers.

[00:13:22] Right.

[00:13:22] Right.

[00:13:22] From Glee.

[00:13:23] Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry to Lima.

[00:13:25] Um, actually I've been up there and it's, it's quite a lovely little town.

[00:13:28] So I've, I've visited.

[00:13:30] I don't, I don't know much about Lima, honestly.

[00:13:32] It's north of us.

[00:13:33] That's it.

[00:13:34] No, I knew that.

[00:13:35] It's four hours up, um, 75 north of us.

[00:13:37] Right.

[00:13:38] So that's all I know about it.

[00:13:39] Sure.

[00:13:39] It's cute though.

[00:13:40] Um, okay.

[00:13:42] So there's more though.

[00:13:43] Okay.

[00:13:43] Um, so verse 11 goes pass by naked and in shame.

[00:13:49] You who live in Shafir, those who live in Zanan will not come out.

[00:13:54] Beth is L is in mourning.

[00:13:55] It no longer protects you.

[00:13:57] Okay.

[00:13:58] Here's what some of that actually means.

[00:14:00] Okay.

[00:14:00] Pass by naked and in shame.

[00:14:03] You who live in pleasant.

[00:14:06] Uh, uh, isn't that funny?

[00:14:08] Cause pleasant's the opposite of naked and in shame.

[00:14:12] Uh, uh, that's so funny.

[00:14:14] I'm not laughing.

[00:14:15] Those who live in go out will not come out.

[00:14:19] Oh my God.

[00:14:20] Uh, uh, uh, for fuck's sake.

[00:14:22] Right.

[00:14:23] I got more.

[00:14:24] I got more.

[00:14:25] But that's why they were phrased so fucking weird.

[00:14:28] Okay.

[00:14:29] I feel like God should have one of those like, you know, joke books.

[00:14:32] That's not really funny.

[00:14:33] Oh my gosh.

[00:14:34] Remember when kid was really into jokes and we got them all these joke books.

[00:14:39] I do.

[00:14:39] And like, I just want to tell every parent out there, if your child is three, you thought

[00:14:44] two and three was bad, which, okay.

[00:14:46] First there's a terrible twos and you think that's bad, right?

[00:14:48] No, that's not bad.

[00:14:49] Right.

[00:14:50] It's fine.

[00:14:50] They're still a baby.

[00:14:51] Um, it's the threes, the threes.

[00:14:53] It's the terrible threes.

[00:14:55] But yeah, they're horrible.

[00:14:57] Like they, they give two a run for the money.

[00:15:00] Like three is just fucking horrible.

[00:15:01] I love children.

[00:15:02] I don't love my children.

[00:15:03] Sure.

[00:15:04] But three is fucking hell.

[00:15:05] Okay.

[00:15:06] And then they come out of three and they turn four and they're little children and they

[00:15:11] have all these understandings and attitudes and beliefs and knock, knock jokes.

[00:15:17] Yes.

[00:15:17] And the knock, knock joke are terrible.

[00:15:19] They, they don't make any fucking sense.

[00:15:21] And they go on for two years from the ages four to six, you will hear knock, knock.

[00:15:26] And then you have to say, who's there?

[00:15:29] And they go air conditioner and you go air conditioner who, and they say, turn on the

[00:15:35] air conditioner.

[00:15:37] And you have to laugh.

[00:15:38] Like it's the funniest shit you ever heard.

[00:15:40] It's true.

[00:15:41] It's true.

[00:15:41] And that was a good one.

[00:15:42] What I just gave you.

[00:15:44] That was better than most.

[00:15:44] Yeah.

[00:15:45] That, that was a good one.

[00:15:46] Cause it slightly made sense.

[00:15:48] Yeah.

[00:15:49] The words matched.

[00:15:50] Right.

[00:15:51] They'll say like cat, cat, who dog or coffee or how she like, they just, they don't understand

[00:15:58] that.

[00:15:59] Like the words have to actually make sense and have a point.

[00:16:03] They're just like, if I say knock, knock and then a thing and then something else, it's

[00:16:05] fine.

[00:16:06] Right.

[00:16:06] Right.

[00:16:06] Yeah.

[00:16:07] Yeah.

[00:16:08] Yeah.

[00:16:08] So it's still better than the three year old shit faces.

[00:16:16] I mean, they are so bad.

[00:16:18] You guys three is so bad because there's still babies.

[00:16:22] They are.

[00:16:23] They're still babies.

[00:16:24] They're toddlers, but they have brains and they think, and they think they know everything

[00:16:29] and they, they're going to tell you.

[00:16:31] And then when they hit four and why, why, why, why?

[00:16:36] And you can't say, cause I fucking said so.

[00:16:39] Cause that's what your parents said.

[00:16:41] And you don't want to be like your parents.

[00:16:43] You want to be better.

[00:16:44] You want to be, you want to be more patient and kinder and you want to actually treat

[00:16:49] them like the people that they are.

[00:16:51] But after the hundredth time, you really do just want to say, cause I fucking said Jesus

[00:16:57] Christ.

[00:16:58] I don't know the answer.

[00:17:00] Go ask Neil deGrasse Tyson.

[00:17:01] Okay.

[00:17:02] Right.

[00:17:03] Okay.

[00:17:04] Anyway, that's the correct answer, right?

[00:17:05] You give them the, yeah, the, the capability of seeing the answer from somebody else.

[00:17:12] But they just think that you know everything, but also don't know everything.

[00:17:17] Hmm.

[00:17:17] And also, Oh, here's another one.

[00:17:20] Here's another one.

[00:17:21] Okay.

[00:17:22] If you tell them not to say something, cause that's not nice.

[00:17:25] You better never fucking say it.

[00:17:28] Cause they, they, you gave them a rule.

[00:17:31] Right.

[00:17:32] And they don't connect it with the fact that you're the one who gave the rule.

[00:17:37] You don't have to follow the rule.

[00:17:38] You can actually break the rule.

[00:17:40] Cause you're a grownup.

[00:17:40] They're like, no, but you, there's a rule.

[00:17:42] I don't care where the fuck it came from.

[00:17:44] There's a rule.

[00:17:45] You know, I gotta say at some level, I don't blame them.

[00:17:47] No, I know.

[00:17:48] But they learn the rule and that rule is there for life.

[00:17:51] Well, yeah.

[00:17:52] And they're like, mom said, shut up.

[00:17:54] That's not nice.

[00:17:55] And it's like, I know, but I'm not.

[00:17:57] Or, or, or if you say, go to your room.

[00:18:01] I I'm so angry with you right now.

[00:18:04] You need to go sit on your bed and think about what you did and understand why I'm upset with you.

[00:18:09] And then we'll have a talk, but mommy needs to calm down for a minute.

[00:18:12] Right.

[00:18:12] And then, so you calm down.

[00:18:14] Right.

[00:18:14] And then you go tell them, okay, I'm ready to have a talk.

[00:18:17] Let's, let's do this.

[00:18:18] And they're like, no, you said I have to stay in my room.

[00:18:22] And it's like, no, but I also am now telling you to come out of your room.

[00:18:26] No, you said I have to stay in my room.

[00:18:29] Like, no, come out now.

[00:18:32] Like, oh, they're just kids.

[00:18:35] Okay.

[00:18:36] I'm sorry.

[00:18:37] Yeah.

[00:18:37] I just was remembering just some of the most frustrating things about children.

[00:18:42] They're so like, you just gotta meet them where they are.

[00:18:47] You gotta meet them where they are.

[00:18:48] But it's, it's, it was a lot easier than, I mean, like, I don't know.

[00:18:55] It's not, it's, I, our kid was pretty good.

[00:18:58] Oh, my, our kid was perfect.

[00:18:59] Except, you know, for when they weren't.

[00:19:01] Sure.

[00:19:02] Like, our kid, our kid was the perfect kid in so far as kids.

[00:19:06] You know?

[00:19:07] Yeah.

[00:19:08] Yeah.

[00:19:08] I love our kid.

[00:19:09] You kind of went on a rant about, you know, like.

[00:19:11] Oh no.

[00:19:12] Here's the thing.

[00:19:13] There's like kids in general, you know, and that, and the way they are.

[00:19:17] But, but our kid is awesome.

[00:19:18] You were also describing raising a child.

[00:19:20] So.

[00:19:20] Well, yeah.

[00:19:21] Yeah.

[00:19:21] Just wanted to make sure that people understood that our kid was pretty awesome.

[00:19:24] Our kid did all of those things and more.

[00:19:26] And is the most awesome thing ever.

[00:19:29] Yes.

[00:19:29] Our kids stood at the top of the stairs and drew us telling them to go upstairs on a whiteboard.

[00:19:36] And then drew them at the top of the stairs saying no.

[00:19:40] And then threw that little whiteboard down the stairs as a note so that we could see a picture of us telling them to go upstairs and them saying no.

[00:19:50] Yeah.

[00:19:51] That's fucking awesome.

[00:19:53] Yeah.

[00:19:54] Frustrating in the moment.

[00:19:56] Awesome story forever.

[00:19:57] Right.

[00:19:58] All right.

[00:19:59] So verse 12 says those who live in Moroth writhe in pain waiting for relief because disaster has come from the Lord even to the gate of Jerusalem.

[00:20:09] You know what it really means?

[00:20:10] What does it mean?

[00:20:11] Those who live in bitter writhe in pain waiting for relief.

[00:20:16] Yeah.

[00:20:17] That's fun.

[00:20:18] That's funny.

[00:20:18] I know.

[00:20:19] Right.

[00:20:19] I'm laughing here.

[00:20:21] Oh, these guys.

[00:20:22] It's hilarious.

[00:20:23] I'm a knee slapper.

[00:20:24] It's a four year old joke.

[00:20:25] Man.

[00:20:26] Yeah.

[00:20:26] It's as good as a four year old.

[00:20:27] Oh, yeah.

[00:20:28] Okay.

[00:20:28] Verse 13.

[00:20:29] You who live in Lashish harness fast horses to the chariot.

[00:20:34] You are where the sin of daughter Zion began for the transgressions of Israel were found in you.

[00:20:41] Okay.

[00:20:41] Ready?

[00:20:42] I'm ready.

[00:20:42] That means you who live in swift beast harness fast horses to the chariot.

[00:20:49] Jesus Christ.

[00:20:50] Okay.

[00:20:50] Get it.

[00:20:51] Get it.

[00:20:52] Why?

[00:20:54] Why?

[00:20:54] Because people in Lima, they're going to choke on Lima beans.

[00:20:58] Get it?

[00:20:59] So bad.

[00:21:00] So bad.

[00:21:01] So bad.

[00:21:02] Like I was trying to think of more and I was like, nah, that's good enough.

[00:21:06] It's so stupid.

[00:21:07] Yeah.

[00:21:08] Okay.

[00:21:08] But also when he says that the sin, the transgressions of Israel started in the daughter of Zion.

[00:21:18] Yeah.

[00:21:19] It's the prophecy seems to suggest that Lashish was the first city in Judah to receive the idolatrous worship of Israel.

[00:21:30] Okay.

[00:21:31] So I don't know why that should matter, but anyway, there it is.

[00:21:36] Okay.

[00:21:36] Bad Lashish.

[00:21:37] Yeah.

[00:21:38] Right.

[00:21:38] Okay.

[00:21:38] All right.

[00:21:39] Two more.

[00:21:40] Verse 14.

[00:21:41] Therefore you will give parting gifts to more chef Gath.

[00:21:46] The town of Aqzeb will prove deceptive to the kings of Israel.

[00:21:51] Okay.

[00:21:51] Ready?

[00:21:52] I'm ready.

[00:21:52] The town of deception.

[00:21:54] Oh my God.

[00:21:56] Will prove deceptive to the kings of Israel.

[00:21:59] For God's sakes.

[00:22:00] All right.

[00:22:01] This is so bad.

[00:22:02] Number five.

[00:22:03] Or I'm sorry.

[00:22:04] Verse 15.

[00:22:05] Yeah.

[00:22:06] I will bring a conqueror against you who live in Marsha.

[00:22:09] The nobles of Israel will flee to Adulam.

[00:22:13] Okay.

[00:22:14] I'm ready.

[00:22:15] I will bring a conqueror against you who live in.

[00:22:18] Conqueror.

[00:22:19] Oh my God.

[00:22:23] Oh shit.

[00:22:24] It's so good.

[00:22:25] I can't.

[00:22:25] I mean, this is, this is really bad.

[00:22:27] It's so bad.

[00:22:27] It's really bad.

[00:22:29] Yeah.

[00:22:29] So yeah.

[00:22:31] Um, those puns are awesome.

[00:22:33] Their word plays on town names, connecting their fates to their meanings.

[00:22:37] And by awesome, you mean shit.

[00:22:40] Well, very much shit.

[00:22:42] Yeah.

[00:22:42] Especially by today's standards.

[00:22:44] Right.

[00:22:44] I'm telling you back then.

[00:22:46] Oh, this was, this was gold.

[00:22:47] This was, this was the height of intellect.

[00:22:50] Okay.

[00:22:51] Wow.

[00:22:53] Shakespearean.

[00:22:54] Was it now?

[00:22:55] Yeah.

[00:22:55] You're sure about that?

[00:22:56] They, it wasn't just, it wasn't just bad writing back then too.

[00:22:59] It's part of what differentiated them.

[00:23:02] Their ability to play with words and play on words.

[00:23:06] Okay.

[00:23:07] Proved how smart they were as to be prophets.

[00:23:11] Oh, okay.

[00:23:13] You know what I mean?

[00:23:13] I, I understand the words you're saying.

[00:23:16] I do.

[00:23:17] It's hard to put them with the words that I already said.

[00:23:20] Yeah.

[00:23:20] I'm just, I'm hearing the words that they wrote and I'm thinking to myself, maybe they weren't

[00:23:26] as smart as they thought they were.

[00:23:27] Yeah.

[00:23:28] And I bet there might've been people even at the time going, I don't think they're as clever

[00:23:31] as they think they are.

[00:23:32] Like, that's not as funny.

[00:23:33] That's really dumb.

[00:23:34] You're laughing so hard and I'm not.

[00:23:37] They're like looking around the room is everybody, I guess everyone, yeah, they're laughing.

[00:23:41] They're like, fuck.

[00:23:44] Okay.

[00:23:45] So the destruction of Samaria occurred historically in 722 BCE by the Assyrians.

[00:23:52] Sure.

[00:23:52] Fulfilling these prophecies.

[00:23:55] Okay.

[00:23:55] All right.

[00:23:55] Yeah.

[00:23:56] Yeah.

[00:23:56] So there we go.

[00:23:57] Yeah.

[00:23:57] All right.

[00:23:58] So chapter two.

[00:23:59] Okay.

[00:24:00] Yeah.

[00:24:00] Woe to oppressors and a promise of restoration.

[00:24:05] So there he was like doing all this poesy and puns, right?

[00:24:09] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:10] Now he's condemning the wealthy and powerful who exploit others, seizing land and houses

[00:24:16] through unjust means.

[00:24:18] Okay.

[00:24:19] Okay.

[00:24:19] He's like, fuck all you assholes that are rich, you know, you're going to get yours.

[00:24:25] Which we kind of talked about the, you know, like them, Micah promoting the poor was

[00:24:32] kind of cool.

[00:24:33] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:34] Mm-hmm.

[00:24:34] Yeah.

[00:24:34] Yeah.

[00:24:35] So God promises punishment for their greed and injustice.

[00:24:39] However, the chapter ends with a promise of hope.

[00:24:42] God will gather his remnant like a shepherd gathering a sheep, yee-haw, bah, bah, and lead

[00:24:50] them to freedom.

[00:24:51] Okay.

[00:24:51] Okay.

[00:24:52] The chapter balances judgment with hope.

[00:24:55] And so you're supposed to get a little bit of both.

[00:24:58] Sure.

[00:24:58] Bit of both.

[00:24:58] Right.

[00:24:59] Yeah.

[00:25:00] The image of a shepherd gathering the remnant ties to later Messiah prophecies like in John,

[00:25:09] the book of John, where Jesus is described as the good shepherd.

[00:25:13] So there's that tie-in.

[00:25:15] Got it.

[00:25:15] Just an FYI.

[00:25:17] Okay.

[00:25:17] Not a big deal.

[00:25:19] Just putting that out there.

[00:25:20] Sure.

[00:25:21] Like Christians love this shit.

[00:25:22] Right.

[00:25:22] Okay.

[00:25:23] All right.

[00:25:24] Chapter three.

[00:25:25] Corruption of leaders and prophets.

[00:25:27] Okay.

[00:25:28] Micah rebukes the corrupt leaders and false prophets of Judah.

[00:25:32] Yeah.

[00:25:33] Leaders exploit and devour the people while prophets speak lies for personal gain.

[00:25:39] You know, false prophets.

[00:25:41] Yeah.

[00:25:41] Like I already talked about.

[00:25:42] But yeah, we talk about this all the time, but like, I just don't know how you are supposed

[00:25:46] to tell.

[00:25:47] You can't.

[00:25:48] Especially when someone's using such bad puns to describe the fucking punishment that's

[00:25:53] happening to them.

[00:25:53] I would be like, oh, clearly I can put an X on you.

[00:25:57] You're not one of the ones.

[00:25:57] God didn't write that shit.

[00:25:58] Come on.

[00:25:59] God would never.

[00:25:59] You made that shit up.

[00:26:00] God would never.

[00:26:01] You thought you were clever.

[00:26:03] Yeah.

[00:26:03] Yeah.

[00:26:04] You wanted us to clap for you and that's silly.

[00:26:08] No.

[00:26:09] Obviously you're not a prophet.

[00:26:11] We could at least look back at it now and be like, yeah, if there was a God, he didn't

[00:26:15] write that shit.

[00:26:16] No.

[00:26:16] That was bad.

[00:26:17] Yeah.

[00:26:18] Yeah.

[00:26:18] I fully believe that some dude put this down and thought he was in love with dad jokes.

[00:26:26] Except here's the thing.

[00:26:27] I love me a good dad joke.

[00:26:29] Sure.

[00:26:30] These were not dad jokes.

[00:26:30] They were not.

[00:26:31] Yeah.

[00:26:31] They weren't even on par.

[00:26:32] No, no, no, no.

[00:26:34] All right.

[00:26:35] So God declares that because of their corruption, Zion, AKA Jerusalem will be plowed like a field

[00:26:43] and the temple mount will become a heap of ruin.

[00:26:46] And this is what I was talking about earlier.

[00:26:48] That does not happen in a timely manner.

[00:26:51] Right.

[00:26:52] Right.

[00:26:52] So this is where they have to draw in the Babylonian exile.

[00:26:56] They're like, but it happened later though.

[00:26:58] Right.

[00:26:58] Yeah.

[00:26:59] So Micah's tone here is super harsh.

[00:27:02] Okay.

[00:27:03] He's like bitching and yelling and stuff.

[00:27:05] Right.

[00:27:06] He is likening leaders to butchers who tear flesh from bones.

[00:27:11] Yeah.

[00:27:11] They were talking about eating babies and start eating people or whatever and stuff.

[00:27:16] This chapter particularly exposes the systemic injustice that was happening at the time and

[00:27:23] is pointed to as an example of where the Bible is particularly against and opposed to slavery because there's a whole part where he says that the bones of the buildings are the bones of the people who built it.

[00:27:46] And the blood of the people who were forced to.

[00:27:52] He's talking about the slave trade.

[00:27:54] No.

[00:27:54] And well, is he though?

[00:27:56] Because we're talking about 800 BCE ish timeframe.

[00:27:59] And at the time there were still Israelite slaves that were being there basically indentured servants of the time.

[00:28:07] Right.

[00:28:07] They were the remember how there was the Jubilee and they got released on the seventh year and yada, yada, yada.

[00:28:11] Right.

[00:28:12] So there was a mixture at that time of these two types of slavery.

[00:28:17] And while they may be okay with one, they might.

[00:28:22] Right.

[00:28:22] It's not it's not out now opposed to all slavery altogether.

[00:28:27] That's what I'm saying.

[00:28:27] Right.

[00:28:28] Yeah.

[00:28:28] I'm certainly not trying to say, yeah, the Bible is totally against slavery.

[00:28:32] I'm trying to say this is where somebody would point to an example and say, no, the Bible is against slavery.

[00:28:40] See, because in chapter three, verse nine, it says, hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel who despise justice and distort all that is right.

[00:28:51] Verse nine, who build Zion with bloodshed and Jerusalem with wickedness.

[00:28:57] So when they build up Zion with blood, it's an allusion to the slave dealers who, by the gains of this traffic, have built houses, businesses, places of worship.

[00:29:06] The timbers of the buildings are the bones of the very people enslaved to build them.

[00:29:11] And the mortar is the blood of those defenseless slaves.

[00:29:14] OK.

[00:29:15] So, again, I'm not trying to say that the Bible is opposed to slavery.

[00:29:19] Clearly, it is absolutely not.

[00:29:21] It doesn't strike me as completely odd that some random minor prophet might have a problem with slavery.

[00:29:29] Well, I mean, he he was against the people in power.

[00:29:34] Right.

[00:29:34] So this is particularly this one who is standing up for the poor of the time would probably be an advocate and oppressed would probably be an advocate for not doing slavery.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:45] Right.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:46] So I would not say that the Bible is anti-slavery.

[00:29:48] I would say that Micah had some beef with it.

[00:29:51] Yeah.

[00:29:52] That's what I would say.

[00:29:53] I can I can I can get down with that.

[00:29:55] But to say that the Bible is against it or God's against it.

[00:29:58] No.

[00:29:58] Disingenuous.

[00:29:59] Yeah.

[00:29:59] Totally.

[00:30:00] Totally.

[00:30:00] Would never try to say that in a million years.

[00:30:04] Just trying to point out, like I said, to be fair, to be fair.

[00:30:08] Right.

[00:30:09] You know, and and good on him in that one place at that one point.

[00:30:13] Yeah.

[00:30:14] Assuming that's actually what was intended, what was intended, what he felt and what he was saying.

[00:30:19] Right.

[00:30:19] Yay for Micah.

[00:30:20] Yeah.

[00:30:21] He's a weirdo.

[00:30:22] But he got that one right.

[00:30:23] But he got maybe.

[00:30:24] Maybe.

[00:30:25] Right.

[00:30:25] He might have got that one right.

[00:30:27] Possibly.

[00:30:28] Possibly.

[00:30:28] Yeah.

[00:30:29] He the prophecy about Jerusalem's destruction is echoed in Jeremiah 26, verse 18 and is supposedly later fulfilled during the Babylonian conquest.

[00:30:43] Right.

[00:30:43] Which was 587 to 586 BCE.

[00:30:46] Yeah.

[00:30:47] I had something else I wanted to say.

[00:30:49] Yeah.

[00:30:50] And we totally read that later, like when we were back over there.

[00:30:56] You mean earlier when we were in Jeremiah?

[00:30:58] No.

[00:30:59] When we were reading chapter three.

[00:31:01] Okay.

[00:31:02] I actually read the Jeremiah verses.

[00:31:05] Yeah.

[00:31:06] Okay.

[00:31:06] Yeah.

[00:31:06] So I'm not going to reread those again.

[00:31:08] But I will say that with regard to verse 12, the Maserites in their division of the Bible reckon all 12 minor prophets as one book.

[00:31:22] So they put all the minor prophets together in one book.

[00:31:24] Okay.

[00:31:24] And they put Micah chapter three, verse 12 as the very middle verse of these prophets, which is interesting.

[00:31:33] Yeah.

[00:31:33] So, all right.

[00:31:34] Now moving on to chapter four, which we were like, I'm so sorry, but the fuck?

[00:31:39] Right.

[00:31:39] Yeah.

[00:31:39] And the fourth chapter was really odd.

[00:31:42] It was rough.

[00:31:43] And that's where we're like, we need to do a Q&A.

[00:31:45] Yeah.

[00:31:45] Yeah.

[00:31:46] We're like, pause.

[00:31:47] Yeah.

[00:31:47] And then we went on vacation and.

[00:31:49] Something like that.

[00:31:50] Yeah.

[00:31:50] Yeah.

[00:31:51] All right.

[00:31:51] So this chapter is about the mountain of the Lord and future peace.

[00:31:55] Sure.

[00:31:55] Okay.

[00:31:56] And this is where Jesus freaks start coming out and saying, see, see, see, he's totally talking

[00:32:03] about the Jesus to come.

[00:32:04] Except for that.

[00:32:04] I don't believe that this was actually written back in the 800 BCs.

[00:32:08] Right.

[00:32:08] So.

[00:32:09] Totally don't disagree.

[00:32:10] Yeah.

[00:32:11] So in stark contrast to the previous chapter, Micah chapter four shifts to a vision of future

[00:32:18] restoration and peace, which is like just so out of place and weird.

[00:32:22] Yeah.

[00:32:23] The mountain of the Lord, which is considered to be Zion.

[00:32:27] Right.

[00:32:27] Will be exalted above all others and people from many nations will seek God's ways.

[00:32:33] Instruments of war will be turned into tools for farming, symbolizing an era of universal

[00:32:39] peace.

[00:32:39] The chapter concludes with a promise that the exiled will return and God will reign forever.

[00:32:46] Okay.

[00:32:47] The chapter contains one of the most beautiful prophetic visions of peace shared with Isaiah

[00:32:54] chapter two versus two through four, almost verbatim.

[00:32:58] Which I feel like you read.

[00:32:59] I did as well.

[00:33:00] I did.

[00:33:00] So I'm not going to do a repeat, but yeah, they, they either copied from the same source

[00:33:11] or Micah was inspired by Isaiah or God spoke to both of them or some shit like that.

[00:33:18] Well, who came first?

[00:33:19] Isaiah or Micah?

[00:33:20] I thought Isaiah came first.

[00:33:22] Am I wrong?

[00:33:22] I think Micah might have been before Isaiah actually.

[00:33:25] Then vice versa.

[00:33:26] Whatever.

[00:33:26] Okay.

[00:33:26] Either one of them was inspired by the other.

[00:33:29] They both got their info from a similar source or God spoke the same words to both of

[00:33:34] them.

[00:33:34] Got it.

[00:33:35] You get to decide.

[00:33:36] Sure.

[00:33:36] You choose.

[00:33:37] Right.

[00:33:38] Um, this vision is often interpreted as pointing towards the Messiah era and the ultimate

[00:33:45] reign of God.

[00:33:46] Okay.

[00:33:47] Okay.

[00:33:47] Like rain as in God in charge, not like rain from the sky.

[00:33:52] Like God is, you know, pouring rain all over us.

[00:33:55] Right.

[00:33:55] I was wrong.

[00:33:56] Isaiah came first.

[00:33:57] That makes sense.

[00:33:58] Micah came after Isaiah.

[00:33:59] Okay.

[00:34:00] So, okay.

[00:34:01] Yeah.

[00:34:01] Whichever.

[00:34:02] Yeah.

[00:34:02] Yeah.

[00:34:03] Um, the vision of nations streaming to Zion is echoed in the new.

[00:34:07] New Testament in the book of revelation.

[00:34:10] And it describes all the nations coming together to worship God.

[00:34:14] Got it.

[00:34:15] There's that little whatever.

[00:34:16] So, um, in Micah chapter one versus 10 through 16, like I said, it's famous for its Hebrew

[00:34:24] puns.

[00:34:25] Like totally.

[00:34:26] Right.

[00:34:27] Like we're talking, everybody talks about it.

[00:34:30] Got it.

[00:34:31] Okay.

[00:34:31] Yeah.

[00:34:31] So we're supposed to know that.

[00:34:33] So that might come up on the Q and a, so remember it's chapter one versus 10 through 16.

[00:34:40] Okay.

[00:34:40] Okay.

[00:34:41] All right.

[00:34:41] And these puns would have resonated deeply with the original audience, reinforcing the

[00:34:46] message in memorable ways, but not to us anymore.

[00:34:50] No.

[00:34:50] Which takes away from the written by God thing.

[00:34:53] Right.

[00:34:53] Yeah.

[00:34:54] Yeah.

[00:34:54] Because it doesn't like it has no relevance.

[00:34:57] Like who cares?

[00:34:58] Right.

[00:34:59] Big, big, good one.

[00:35:00] God.

[00:35:00] Yeah.

[00:35:01] Hmm.

[00:35:02] We're all real excited about that pun from thousands of years ago.

[00:35:06] Right.

[00:35:06] Right.

[00:35:07] Micah's words are often echoed or parallel by other prophets.

[00:35:13] Okay.

[00:35:13] Um, for example, his vision of peace in chapter four, which we just covered.

[00:35:18] Yeah.

[00:35:18] Um, it mirrors Isaiah and his rebuke of corruption is kind of similar to Amos and Hosea.

[00:35:26] Got it.

[00:35:27] So just to be clear, um, Isaiah and Micah prophesied, well, Isaiah started before Micah,

[00:35:32] but they were during the same Kings.

[00:35:34] So they were kind of active at the same time.

[00:35:36] Okay.

[00:35:36] So yeah, they probably, um, had the same source of material that totally tracks.

[00:35:41] Yeah.

[00:35:42] Um, Micah lived during the time of Assyrian dominance, witnessing events like the fall

[00:35:48] of Samaria in 722 BCE and his warnings to Judah may have actually influenced King Hezekiah's

[00:35:56] reforms as mentioned in second Kings chapter 18.

[00:36:00] Okay.

[00:36:01] Micah chapters one through four paints a vivid picture of divine judgment tempered by hope

[00:36:07] rich with poetic beauty, historical resonance, and theological dab.

[00:36:13] I don't know about all that.

[00:36:14] Theological depth, huh?

[00:36:15] I don't know about all that.

[00:36:16] Is that because of the puns or?

[00:36:19] I don't know about all that.

[00:36:22] Yeah.

[00:36:22] Um, it sets the stage for understanding both the immediate consequences of sin and the ultimate

[00:36:29] restoration of God's people.

[00:36:31] Um, I had one more thing I wanted to say.

[00:36:35] Okay.

[00:36:35] That I need to find.

[00:36:37] Um, okay.

[00:36:39] So do you remember the people sitting under their own, with their own vine and their own victory?

[00:36:45] Yeah.

[00:36:45] Um, that was echoed more than once in the Bible as, um, meaning, uh, prosperity and peace.

[00:36:52] Right.

[00:36:52] Which I read a couple of places where it comes up, but I just wanted to reiterate that that's

[00:36:57] a big thing as well.

[00:36:58] Sure.

[00:36:58] Um, where it says, um, in chapter four, verse five, all the nations may walk in the name

[00:37:06] of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the Lord, our God forever and ever.

[00:37:11] Right.

[00:37:12] Like that had to have been added later by like either pre Jesus or super Jesusy people.

[00:37:20] Because it's so like, here he comes.

[00:37:23] Right.

[00:37:24] Y'all ready for this?

[00:37:25] Yeah.

[00:37:26] Um, after the captivity, the Jewish people walked in the name of Jehovah alone and acknowledge

[00:37:31] no other object of religious worship to the present day.

[00:37:38] They all came together.

[00:37:40] Those Jewish people.

[00:37:41] Yeah.

[00:37:42] And they were like Jehovah forever.

[00:37:44] No, no other gods.

[00:37:46] We don't do any of that.

[00:37:49] Um, a sheer up whole worship stuff.

[00:37:52] Sure.

[00:37:53] I mean, at some point it happened, I guess, but you know, so they're like, Nope.

[00:37:56] After the active, after the captivity, they got rid of all their idol worship.

[00:38:01] I imagine that there was probably a revitalization of, of their religion at that point.

[00:38:06] And that's why there was a lot of these texts and things like that.

[00:38:09] Like they're, they definitely made a big push.

[00:38:11] Yeah.

[00:38:12] To make God, God at that point.

[00:38:14] Right.

[00:38:14] Yeah.

[00:38:15] Yeah.

[00:38:15] And they were like, we have got to get these people together.

[00:38:18] Right.

[00:38:19] Yeah.

[00:38:20] Um, so Micah sees the people in captivity as a flock of sheep that have been attacked, injured

[00:38:26] and scattered.

[00:38:27] And the remains of this flock will be gathered together again, healed and brought back to

[00:38:33] their own land to become a strong nation once more.

[00:38:37] And that again, alludes to Jesus being a shepherd of all of his lost sheep.

[00:38:44] Got it.

[00:38:44] You know, or little bo peep, whichever you prefer.

[00:38:47] Cause she also has lost sheep.

[00:38:49] She does.

[00:38:50] She does.

[00:38:50] From what I hear.

[00:38:51] Yeah.

[00:38:52] So, um, let's see.

[00:38:55] Um, another illustration of the triumph of God's people is given in the form of a vision.

[00:39:00] And that's at the end of chapter four, where the prophet sees the overthrow of a great

[00:39:07] army that besieges Jerusalem.

[00:39:09] The army is composed of soldiers of many nations who await their chance to break down the walls

[00:39:16] and plunder the city.

[00:39:17] They scoff at the people and dishonor the King, not realizing that God has brought them together

[00:39:23] so that he might destroy them all the more easily, all in one place at one time.

[00:39:29] I see.

[00:39:29] They will be punished by God's almighty power crushed as the grain on the threshing floor

[00:39:35] is crushed under the hooves of the oxen.

[00:39:39] And that's where we got that.

[00:39:42] Like, remember they were talking about like the metal hooves and the metal.

[00:39:46] Yeah.

[00:39:47] Yeah.

[00:39:47] That's what that's supposed to be an allusion to.

[00:39:49] Got it.

[00:39:49] Well, and that was, that reminded me of that statue that was in that one.

[00:39:52] Yeah.

[00:39:53] I don't remember which book it was, but.

[00:39:54] I did not see anything tying it to that.

[00:39:57] Doesn't mean that it's not.

[00:39:58] Sure.

[00:39:58] Like, remember we, we, you picked up on the whole, that's totally, he's doing a magic

[00:40:04] spell during that one way back when.

[00:40:06] And we couldn't find anything to back that up.

[00:40:09] I would imagine there's probably some symbolic meaning to these different metals and these,

[00:40:14] like, it doesn't necessarily have to be directly tied.

[00:40:17] Right.

[00:40:17] But maybe there was some symbolism built into those types of metals and things like that

[00:40:23] for the time.

[00:40:24] I don't know.

[00:40:25] Yeah.

[00:40:26] But that's what it felt.

[00:40:27] It felt similar.

[00:40:29] So that's all I was saying.

[00:40:30] Yeah.

[00:40:30] And, and I don't know the answer to that, but that's just how I felt about it.

[00:40:34] Yeah.

[00:40:35] So is that, is that all we got for the Q and A?

[00:40:38] That's Q and A Micah chapters one through four.

[00:40:41] Okay.

[00:40:41] Call it done.

[00:40:42] Yeah.

[00:40:43] So that was our Q and A for today.

[00:40:45] I will get the weekly wrap up out here for tomorrow.

[00:40:49] And then we'll be back on Monday with.

[00:40:53] Micah chapter four.

[00:40:55] Five.

[00:40:56] Yeah.

[00:40:56] Chapter five.

[00:40:58] Sorry.

[00:40:58] Yeah.

[00:40:58] Oops, I'm being five.

[00:41:00] Five, five, five.

[00:41:01] We'll see you then.

[00:41:02] Bye.

[00:41:03] Bye.
