Ruth is four chapters long and almost suspiciously normal: a famine, a loyal daughter-in-law, a grain field, and a marriage arranged through what amounts to an ancient legal technicality. No plagues, no genocide, no talking animals, just people making quiet choices about who they’re going to take care of. We went through the whole thing scene by scene, partly because it’s short and partly because a story this calm is its own kind of interesting once you notice everything happening around it.
You’ll also see 1 episode marked Dig Deeper below. The show’s format is an unstudied first read, reactions and all, so those episodes are where the hosts go back into a book or chapters they already covered to chase down their own questions and pick up what they missed the first time through. They’re not listener Q&A, just the hosts grading their own homework.
