Miktam is a word of unknown meaning found in the headings of this group of Psalms. Maybe it's a lid! Who could know?
Psalm 56: A Prayer of Trust. Starts, "Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up." This psalm is a prayer for help against enemies, by which it is meant that the psalmist prays God will kill people and absolutely demolish entire nations. So sweet!
Psalm 57: A Prayer for Rescue from Persecutors. Starts, "Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me." This psalm refers to that time David was hiding in a cave watching Saul do peepees. Much poesy!
