From an atheist perspective, these chapters are simply a record of ancient religious beliefs. There is no evidence to suggest that God actually spoke to the Israelites or gave them the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are a set of moral principles that have been influential in many cultures. However, there is no reason to believe that they are divinely inspired. They are simply the product of human thought and experience.
