Hey there, heathens! Buckle up, because we're diving back into the baffling world of biblical prophecies in the latest episode of our podcast: 'Isaiah Chapter 25.' Ever wondered what God’s plan for the end of the world looks like? According to Isaiah, it's a wild roller-coaster ride of God laying waste to cities, being both feared and revered, and throwing an epic feast on a mountain, followed by, of course, the grand finale - the end of death. Exciting, right?
After an unplanned break (because yes, even godless folks like us enjoy a good holiday and birthday shindig), we're back to try and make sense of Isaiah's fear-inspiring awe of God, which apparently equates fear with love. Get ready to question everything you thought you knew about the nature of reverence.
We also venture into the territory of the end times, a topic that never fails to amuse us. Isaiah seems to be on a roll with some serious vitriolic language against Moab and other nations. We debate whether these are mere cautionary tales or a glimpse into a doomsday future. Either way, it's sure to tickle your skeptical funny bone.
Join us on this enlightening (or should we say, entertaining) journey through the Book of Isaiah. Trust us, even if you don't end up with a heightened understanding of these profound prophecies, you're guaranteed a good laugh and possibly a new perspective on biblical prophecy. Because remember, as atheists, we don't just read the Bible - we question it, we challenge it, and yes, we poke fun at it.
Tune in now and let's venture together into this captivating (and slightly hilarious) world of biblical prophecy!

00:00 - Wife (Host)
Husband wife. Do you know where the hell we are and do you remember what the heck happened?
00:05 - Husband (Host)
Well, we're still in Isaiah. We are and I believe we ended last week a little abruptly on chapter 24 we did due to holiday and birthday shenanigans. Yes, which means that today we're on Isaiah, chapter 25. We are, and we last time went over the end of the world. Maybe yeah. I don't know, like shit was split in a part and all kinds of crap was going wrong and quakes were quaking, earth was breaking.
00:33
Yeah, and then if you listen to our Q&A, I think that had to do with a Greater theme that's gonna be happening in the next couple of chapters.
00:40 - Wife (Host)
I was gonna mention that when we get into the episode right, so let's you ready to go ahead and do this? I am let's do it Okie-dokie. Okay, so we're gonna hop into chapter 25, but, as you mentioned in the intro, I just want to start before we jump into chapter 25 and mention that in our Q&A we did find out that chapters 24 through 27 of Isaiah are part of one unit of prophecy that is sometimes called the Isaiah Apocalypse correct yeah and boy 24 really Was a great introduction to that it was because there was an apocalypse coming right and I kind of referenced it.
01:36 - Husband (Host)
I said in the Q&A that we did. I said I called it a revelations light.
01:41 - Wife (Host)
Mmm a revelation light, sorry, yes, single revelation and it does seem to be part of that Cohort yeah, yeah, so yeah all right with. That being said, let's jump into chapter 25.
01:54 - Husband (Host)
Okay, yep.
01:55 - Wife (Host)
Lord, you are my god. I will exalt you and praise your name For imperfect faithfulness. You have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.
02:07 - Husband (Host)
Mmm Okay.
02:08 - Wife (Host)
You have made the city a heap of rubble.
02:12 - Husband (Host)
Awesome, I love it when my plans involved making cities, we heaps of rubble right good times the fortified town a ruin. Okay, nice yeah the foreigner stronghold.
02:24 - Wife (Host)
A city no more. It will never be rebuilt. I mean, this is great stuff. Yeah, right, job God very excited about God here and the things that he do. Yeah hey, therefore, strong peoples will honor you, because I know I'm always excited to Praise and exalt somebody who is destructive and shitty and murderous. Yeah, no oh yeah, opposite opposite right cities of ruthless nations will revere you.
02:57 - Husband (Host)
Okay.
02:58 - Wife (Host)
I don't think revere is the right word. Again they're using love and reverence in Exchange for the word fear.
03:06 - Husband (Host)
Yeah, well, it's been that way off of the Bible.
03:07 - Wife (Host)
I know, I just wanted to point it out that Fear is not the same thing as love or no, not in any way whatsoever.
03:16 - Husband (Host)
Yeah.
03:18 - Wife (Host)
You have been a refuge, refuge for the poor, a Refuge for the needy unless they're in, unless they're in one of those towns you destroy right in which case fuck off and.
03:30 - Husband (Host)
Yeah right.
03:30 - Wife (Host)
Yeah, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. Hmm you were so awesome, right? I mean, this God is so awesome and fun and great and good. Yeah, if he didn't kill you right right for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm Driving against a wall. Okay and Like the heat of the desert.
03:56 - Husband (Host)
So it's bad, it's not, it's so the like, the breath of that, seems fruitless to me. Well.
04:04 - Wife (Host)
He's saying the breath of the ruthless, god is ruthless. Isn't that great.
04:07 - Husband (Host)
I love a ruthless guy, yeah but he's saying but he's saying the ruthless worship him and like him. And he's saying that their breath is the same as I don't, I don't, I'm not quite understanding what they're trying to get at the breath of the ruthless.
04:20 - Wife (Host)
The breath of God is Is like a storm driving against a wall and like the heat of the desert.
04:27 - Husband (Host)
Okay, are you sure about that? Because I thought he was saying that the ruthless like God and that the so they were just saying something. No, no, okay right.
04:36 - Wife (Host)
You've been a refuge for all of these needy people, and the breath of the ruthless is like a storm. He's calling God ruthless.
04:45 - Husband (Host)
Okay, right.
04:47 - Wife (Host)
And, like the heat of the desert, you silence the uproar of foreigners, as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud. So the song of the ruthless is stilled. Maybe you were right.
05:00 - Husband (Host)
Yeah, oh, okay, you said you had said something about them earlier. That wasn't in reference to God, and then, yeah, who could?
05:06 - Wife (Host)
know God's a dick, so anytime they're like God is a dick, I'm like you were talking about God, just then being a dick Right, right. But no, not.
05:15 - Husband (Host)
Yep.
05:18 - Wife (Host)
On this mountain, the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, A banquet of aged wine, the best of meats and the finest of wines. Yum, yum, yum yum.
05:32 - Husband (Host)
Sounds delicious.
05:34 - Wife (Host)
On this mountain, mountain of food and wine. That sounds like my heaven, you know.
05:40 - Husband (Host)
Yeah.
05:41 - Wife (Host)
On this mountain. He will destroy the shroud that unfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations. Okay, he will swallow up death forever. I don't need to live forever, honestly, right.
05:56 - Husband (Host)
Yeah.
05:57 - Wife (Host)
Just a long while would be nice, but I don't need forever. I'm not greedy.
06:01 - Husband (Host)
Yeah, and is this still? Well, I guess this is where people okay.
06:07 - Wife (Host)
What are you trying to say?
06:08 - Husband (Host)
I don't so like this. I get the swallowing up. Death forever is where Christians get like you know the world's gonna end, but then the you know I understand that this is like an end times reference, so Mm-hmm. So that's that we went from like simple immediate prophecies to this end times shit.
06:27 - Wife (Host)
And.
06:28 - Husband (Host)
I'm a little bit baffled as to how we made this transition.
06:32 - Wife (Host)
Right.
06:32 - Husband (Host)
I'm still kind of reeling over what has happened thus far.
06:35 - Wife (Host)
Like how did we get here? Yeah, the sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces. He will remove his people's disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.
06:48 - Husband (Host)
Oh, that doesn't sound as good as it sounded.
06:51 - Wife (Host)
Right, you know what I'm like, yeah.
06:54 - Husband (Host)
This means we're all gonna die. I think you know that's the way I'm taking this anyway.
06:57 - Wife (Host)
Mm-hmm.
06:58 - Husband (Host)
Okay, all right.
06:59 - Wife (Host)
I'm with you.
07:00 - Husband (Host)
Yeah.
07:01 - Wife (Host)
In that day, in that day.
07:03 - Husband (Host)
Yeah.
07:04 - Wife (Host)
They will say surely this is our God, we trusted in him and he saved us. I mean, he killed a lot of people, but fuck man, he let me live Awesome.
07:14 - Husband (Host)
Right.
07:15 - Wife (Host)
This is the Lord. We trusted in him. Let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation. I'm so excited that I get to live amongst the rubble.
07:25 - Husband (Host)
Right.
07:26 - Wife (Host)
The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain, but Moab will be trampled in their land Yee-haw, as straw is trampled down in the manure.
07:37 - Husband (Host)
Damn.
07:38 - Wife (Host)
Love me. Some murder in me.
07:39 - Husband (Host)
Right.
07:41 - Wife (Host)
They will stretch out their hands in it, as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim. God will bring down their pride, despite the cleverness of their hands. He will bring down your high fortified walls and lay them low. He will bring them down to the ground, to the very dust, the end.
07:59 - Husband (Host)
Okay.
08:00 - Wife (Host)
Fuck you and die, unless you're me, and I get to live and you get to die. Yeah, yeah, yeah, god is great.
08:05 - Husband (Host)
Well, even that, like the, what he's talking about is very hard to follow, because some of it sounded like he's killing everybody and taking everybody that he likes to heaven. Mm-hmm, you know. And some of it sounded like, no, you guys are going to be okay, we're just going to trample Moab.
08:21 - Wife (Host)
Right.
08:22 - Husband (Host)
You know like it was really hard to follow with regard to some of that, but some, some of the words they used are definitely going to be used by Christians to say this is a prophecy of end times. I can see that I can see some of the words meaning, some of the things right, but then we trans, trans, transitioned right back to Moab and immediate neighbors being trampled Right. So which is it? Is it an immediate prophecy or is it, you know, an end times prophecy?
08:53 - Wife (Host)
I say both.
08:54 - Husband (Host)
Yeah, Okay, Well, I just it's. It's not easy to follow.
08:58 - Wife (Host)
So no, it's definitely not All right.
09:01 - Husband (Host)
Well, that was Isaiah, chapter 25. Mm-hmm.
09:05 - Wife (Host)
And part of the end times Isaiah apocalypse.
09:08 - Husband (Host)
Right, which also might also be just an immediate thing that's happening to Moab and things the other people that God doesn't like and he just in the immediate vicinity of geography and history. Just with stronger words Mm-hmm, so whatever. So that was 25. Tomorrow we'll be back with Um Isaiah, chapter 26. All right, we'll see you guys then, yep.
09:28 - Wife (Host)
Okay, there is a welcomeer and a good Chinese man.
