[00:01:50] Husband! Wife! Do you remember what happened yesterday

[00:01:54] and where the fuck we are today? Well yesterday we read Jeremiah chapter 47. Sure it's

[00:02:00] fucked in. And we talked about the Philistines and also the Egyptians again.

[00:02:06] So like they said or like you said that we were going to be talking about different

[00:02:09] you know countries but they followed they talked about the Philistines and then kept talking

[00:02:15] about the Egyptians and how they're all going to die. Everybody's die. Doesn't like them or

[00:02:20] something. Yeah this time. Sometimes. Right. I mean well I guess the Egyptians he's pretty much

[00:02:26] always hated. Yeah I don't know he's a man. I don't think he's really ever really I can't think

[00:02:30] of a time where he liked the Egyptians. I mean from the beginning he was trying to get his people

[00:02:34] out of there. Right but in and every time his people try to ask for help from the Egyptians. He's

[00:02:38] like don't talk to those people. Not the Egyptian. What the fuck are you thinking? Get away from

[00:02:43] those Egyptians. And I'm like but it's Egypt they have coal stuff. Right right. And then God's like

[00:02:50] you're being stereotypy can you not? And I'm like hold on hold on hold on you're telling me

[00:02:57] I'm being stereotypy okay I just had a whole conversation that I made up. Okay okay between me and God

[00:03:04] yeah and I need to stop now. Okay sorry. All right yeah that's what happened. So basically the

[00:03:10] the Philistines are gonna die and the Egyptians are gonna die because God doesn't like them

[00:03:15] and he's saying that they're gonna die. Everybody's gonna die. So they're gonna die? Yes. Okay that

[00:03:21] was Jeremiah chapter 47. Sure fuck what which means that today we're getting into. Jeremiah chapter 48

[00:03:28] and a quick note about how we're handling today's episode. Yeah this chapter is long as fuck

[00:03:35] comparatively speaking to the ones we have in reading. Yeah so during the book of Jeremiah I had kind

[00:03:41] of changed how I had been doing my research and kind of referencing notes throughout and so I'd

[00:03:48] read and I'd be like okay hang on let me hit my notes to like explain what the fuck we just read.

[00:03:52] Right but this chapter is so long that I don't want to make this more painful than it already will

[00:03:59] be because it's so long. Right. So what we're gonna do is um we'll do chapter 48 and then Thursday

[00:04:07] will be chapter 49 and then Friday will be chapter 50. Yeah and then on Monday we'll finish up the

[00:04:14] book with chapter 51 also there's not gonna be a Q&A on Saturday. That's what I forgot to say. Yeah

[00:04:20] yeah yeah and then so on Tuesday we'll do a big Q&A for these final chapters that all fall into their

[00:04:28] own little yeah do Hickey their own little unit. Yeah and then we'll do a overview of the whole

[00:04:35] book of Jeremiah on Wednesday and that's probably when we'll also do our year always wrong. You're always

[00:04:42] well no we'll do that on Thursday. Well sometimes we do it with the wrap up sometimes we don't

[00:04:47] we'll probably do it separate um okay just because we don't we it is a big end we got it we got to

[00:04:53] stretch the week out you know well yeah that's true okay that's all yeah we'll probably do that

[00:04:58] on Thursday then yeah and then so I don't know if we'll do something special or different next Friday

[00:05:03] or if we'll just take the day off we'll play it by year we'll figure shit out yeah anyway that's

[00:05:08] how things are gonna be going that's the plan yeah but right now we're getting into Jeremiah

[00:06:36] one little unit that is about God yelling at various nations right and that those chapters do not

[00:06:47] they do not follow chronologically one to the next they are more geographically based yeah

[00:06:55] and they start with Egypt and then move on north and just head on to the way they progress north

[00:07:02] as they go kind of yeah okay yeah yeah that's what the notes previously got it yeah so they started with

[00:07:11] their bestie frenemies and then moved from there to and you suck and you suck and you suck so

[00:07:19] that's what we're in the middle and this one is about Moab oh yeah that's fun again I thought

[00:07:25] they were destroyed they weren't right so now you know yeah apparently they have a lot to say

[00:07:33] about this well that's why you were like oh it's so long and I was like but it's interesting you'll

[00:07:38] be okay okay yeah it's Moab Moab yeah that can't ever be bad no I'm actually curious now okay

[00:07:46] okay because I mean again we haven't talked about the Moabites since like Exodus they're supposed

[00:07:51] to be wiped out right yeah I mean maybe we talked about them slightly after that but like

[00:07:55] Exodus was where it was they were big yeah so it's been a while it sure as fuck has

[00:08:00] all right chapter 48 all right against Moab that's a full sentence oh okay it's not though it's not

[00:08:09] the says the Lord of hosts the God of Israel whoa to Nibo for it is plundered

[00:09:58] further little fill in the blank whatever cities there are in that country yeah yeah so that

[00:10:05] that's what's happening I feel like this was like a um like a profit school exercise where they're

[00:10:11] like all right we're gonna have you write about how god would react to writing about um egypt during

[00:10:18] the time of uh Jeremiah yeah go yeah how would that go you get you get egypt you get philistine you get

[00:10:27] um moabites yeah and like they they assign different sections everybody yeah that's what's happening

[00:10:33] here right and they took the best of the best yeah and they made the cut so the top 10 these are the

[00:10:38] winners I feel like this is just like a writing assignment it's how I feel about it it's the academy

[00:10:43] awards it's the webbies maybe yeah it's the webbies it's it's not there's definitely it does not

[00:10:50] belong in Jeremiah it really doesn't like I don't I don't know what the fuck this shit is but

[00:10:54] it's weird it's not the same no for in the ascent of louis they ascend with continual weeping

[00:11:02] for in the descent of hornan the enemies have heard a cry of destruction flee save your lives and

[00:11:10] be like the juniper in the wilderness for because you have trusted in your works and your treasures

[00:11:28] Israelites I know like this is very weird because in so far too date um god has only really cared

[00:12:01] shall go forth into captivity his priests and his princes together and the plunderer shall come

[00:12:08] against every city no one shall escape the valley also shall perish and the plain shall be destroyed

[00:13:04] bowing plane shall be destroyed as the lord has spoken okay oh see give wings to Moab

[00:13:14] that she may flee and get away for her city shall be desolate without any to dwell in them

[00:13:21] curse it is he who does the work of the lord deceitfully and curse it is he who keeps back his

[00:13:28] sword from blood yeah we like putting our sword in blood how yeah right I mean obviously that

[00:13:34] happens a lot with God but like he's telling them to flee right mm-hmm God is all knowing all

[00:13:41] seen all powerful right according to this book yeah where do you run to they're like go ahead

[00:13:49] and flee oh was that what it got to get you but I mean I don't know I feel like he's saying that

[00:13:55] if you run I might you might not die no he's he's okay so he's telling Jeremiah so Jeremiah is having

[00:14:02] this vision of what will happen and so Jeremiah saying these guys are gonna run like I'm seeing them

[00:14:09] run go ahead run run okay you're not gonna get away because God gonna getcha got it so it's very

[00:14:17] confusing because God's not really talking here Jeremiah is supposedly and then Jeremiah is like

[00:14:25] having a vision and he's trying to describe the vision so he's like telling the future but in present

[00:14:31] tense got it so it's all very weird okay so Moab has been at ease from his youth he has settled on

[00:14:39] his drugs and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel nor has he gone into captivity hmm interesting

[00:14:47] moab is done pretty well over the years apparently but it's interesting that he's referring to Moab as a

[00:14:52] boy instead of right all his other cities are girls yeah you know like I guess Moab's a bad boy

[00:14:59] yeah we all like a bad boy that's why I love the Moabites

[00:15:04] therefore his taste remained in him and his scent has not changed

[00:15:10] therefore behold the days are coming says the Lord that I shall send him wine workers

[00:15:16] who will tip him over and empty his vessels and break the bottles okay

[00:15:22] okay Moab shall be ashamed of Chamosh I bet they aren't though yeah as the House of Israel was

[00:15:29] ashamed of Bethel their confidence hmm what it was Bethel that was that their pre-god

[00:15:38] oh okay okay yeah you know that old guy right I remember now but I didn't know about Bethel

[00:15:45] yeah okay how can you say we are mighty and strong men for the war Moab is plundered and

[00:15:52] gone up from her cities her chosen young men have gone down to the slaughter says the king whose name

[00:15:59] is the Lord of hosts so right so God yeah so God they're not unique in this I mean you know the

[00:16:06] Babylonians are taking over everybody apparently right except he joked except he had

[00:16:11] the calamity of Moab is near at hand and his affliction comes quickly be mone him all of you who are

[00:16:21] around him and all you who know his name say how the strong staff has broken the beautiful rod

[00:16:31] hmm hmm and how oh daughter inhabiting Daibon come down from your glory and sit in thirst for

[00:16:41] the plunderer of Moab has come against you yeah he has he has destroyed your strongholds

[00:24:19] so yeah because that's what we learned yesterday when he's calling somebody a heifer yeah it just

[00:24:25] seems odd that they specifically said a three-year-old heifer yeah yeah like you're big enough that your

[00:24:31] milk has come in but you haven't maybe i don't know what heifers do but we're gonna slaughter you

[00:24:37] yeah so we're gonna get you yeah for the waters of nim rim also shall be desolate

[00:24:44] okay i wonder if that's related to nimrod i doubt it probably you're right yeah more over said the

[00:24:51] lord i will cause to cease in moab the one who offers sacrifices in the high places and burns

[00:24:59] incense to his gods okay yeah just like he does in his own lands okay all right therefore my heart

[00:25:07] shall whale like flutes for moab you notice he didn't really talk this way about the

[00:25:14] Egyptians or the Philistines no like he's like fuck you here's a bomb for your entire land yeah i don't

[00:25:20] care right and die but he is definitely treating the moabites more like his own people than

[00:25:26] like an enemy right but i just i have a problem with this phrasing yeah flutes don't whale no they don't

[00:25:32] so when he said my heart shall whale like flutes right i don't know what that means maybe we have

[00:25:38] never heard somebody play flutes the way that they're gonna be played that day maybe there is a

[00:25:43] way to make a flute whale we just haven't heard it because it's so terrible you know what i'm

[00:25:48] probably thinking of a recorder that's what you learn to play in elementary school right yeah i

[00:25:54] always call it a flute and then the teacher's always like bring your recorders yes still i would not

[00:26:00] read i mean i have heard a flute i know what a flute sounds like and they don't like and i would

[00:26:03] not refer to it as wailing a tuba might whale but a tuba is not a flute right although i guess if

[00:26:10] you're like just talking about things that you stick in your mouth and blow air into

[00:26:16] and like flutes my heart shall whale for the men of kira haras okay well okay that's some magic

[00:26:23] right there you're gonna make a flute whale right therefore the riches they have acquired have perished

[00:26:30] for every head shall be bald and every beard clipped so they're in mourning too yeah on all the

[00:29:08] now she's a shameful whore so moab shall be a derision and a dismay to all those about her

[00:29:15] for thus says the lord behold one shall fly like an eagle does it really say that fly like an eagle

[00:29:22] oh wow yeah and spread his wings over moab yeah okay carry off his taken and the strongholds are

[00:29:31] surprised the mighty men's hearts and moab on that day shall be like the heart of a woman in

[00:29:37] birth pain there it is we had to get that woman in birth pain reference meaning you can't go too
